Michael M Posted September 27, 2023 Posted September 27, 2023 I'm calling her done. 14 months and a week, not bad time, but I was hoping to squeeze her within 12 months. I've use 3D printed add-ons for the first time and i have mixed feelings. Guns were nice and carefree, but the boats needed copious sanding to get rid of print artifacts. Crew from ION Model, I'm a big fan of them, good poses, nice intricate detail, way finer than the North Star ones I used before. I hope you'll enjoy scrolling through the pics Full WIP available HERE Cheers Mick 51 6 4
Iceman 29 Posted September 27, 2023 Posted September 27, 2023 Woah! Very good job, Michael !! 👍 Stunning model! 🤩 1
robgizlu Posted September 27, 2023 Posted September 27, 2023 Outstanding - my favourite model this year. The detail and crispness of build is just Superb. The mast alone is a marvel and the figures give it scale and set it off beautifully let alone the aircraft One to be Very proud of Rob 1 1
nearsightedjohn Posted September 27, 2023 Posted September 27, 2023 Dang that came out out nice! The finished ship is fabulous but it’s the aircraft and figures that really make this build stand out. I will use your WIP as a master-class guide to aim for when I get around to my Langley. Bravo Mick! 1
Courageous Posted September 27, 2023 Posted September 27, 2023 14 months, would've taken me years. Very impressive work all wound; deck gantry, aircraft, figures, just brilliant. Well done. Stuart
Richard E Posted September 27, 2023 Posted September 27, 2023 If BM runs a competition for "Model of the Year" this is definitely a contender. One of those projects which it has been a pleasure to follow - thank you for sharing.
Marcello Rosa Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 Wow, it is as close to seeing the real ship that one can be. I lack words.
Michael M Posted September 28, 2023 Author Posted September 28, 2023 (edited) Thanks a lot for nice comments. I'm glad you like it. I knew I'm going to build her from the moment Trumpeter announced they're going to market her in that version. I need to take a break from ships, so there'll be more faster smaller projects coming out of the pipeline in the near future Edited September 28, 2023 by Michael M
beefy66 Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 Amazing build Michael so much that catches the eye with all the small details definitely a winner in my eye. Stay Safe beefy 1
Farmerboy Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 Sublime model, so many aspects to admire, especially your patience! Good job! 1
Zoran Srb Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 Personally, I'm not a fan of flat tops, but this abomination is actually quite cute, and do have a charm. As far as your model goes, well done Sir, 10/10!!! All together great model, congrats, and I just hope you will treat us with a new one soon. 👏 1
Michael M Posted September 29, 2023 Author Posted September 29, 2023 Yes Zoran, I think abomination is proper term in this case I'll 'treat' you with a few planes and tanks first, but after that it'll be Black Cat's Buttler type DE. 1
Zoran Srb Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 10 hours ago, Michael M said: ........I'll 'treat' you with a few planes and tanks first....... Why does this sound eerily familiar... So far 2 AC done, three more are on the bench, and a couple of AFV's are in the line... So far USS Atlanta doesn't cry strong enough, from the shelf ..... 1
Toryu Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 Lord, that's extraordinary! And all the fine detail, lovely people scenes and fantastic flying boats - very remarkable. 1
madtatt Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 What a fantastic job. I already know them from Scalemates. 1
Zigomar Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 Astounding model of a Museum quality. Hats down Sir and thanks for sharing. 1
S-boat 55 Posted October 2, 2023 Posted October 2, 2023 Hot digedy, thats really impressive, she looks fantastic, id hope you are proud of the end result. I find the subtlety of the weathering very commendable and adds a lot of depth to the overall appearance, 1
Grey Beema Posted October 3, 2023 Posted October 3, 2023 Saw this live at the weekend at the IPMS Nationals. It is simply stunning. Of course it won Gold. I spoke to the judges, they could not find a fault or blemish. 100 / 100 points. Brilliant.. 1
Donald Posted October 3, 2023 Posted October 3, 2023 Wonderfully model ship, and no effort spared on over a dozen aircraft. Nice to see that a few of the crew have found time to loaf around on various parts of the vessel. 1
