madtatt Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 Ahoy everyone. So as promised, here are the fruits of my labor after two and a half years of construction. All that's left for me to do is wish you a lot of fun looking at the pictures. 47 3
sinnerboy Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 Superb! well done Sir! Who is the crew made by? 1
madtatt Posted September 19, 2023 Author Posted September 19, 2023 Thank you. The figures are from North Star Models. Unfortunately I don't know what's going on with the company because their website is down. Here is a link to scalemates, the figures were available from many nations in different poses. https://www.scalemates.com/kits/north-star-models-nsa350508-us-navy-figures-in-working-positions-set-2--1075025 1
robgizlu Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 It's a beautiful model, rigging detailing and weathering are all excellent. Congrats Rob 1
Richard E Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 That is an astounding, museum quality, replica. 1

europapete Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 Now THAT is how a large scale ship should be done!Awesome, well done. 1 1
ArnoldAmbrose Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 Gidday Jolle aka @madtatt, I followed your build thread, and this is a magnificent model. I think it is certainly museum quality. Regards, Jeff. 1
theskits62 Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 That is stunning - hope you're going to put it in a glass case to keep the dust off !!! 1
madtatt Posted September 20, 2023 Author Posted September 20, 2023 (edited) Thank you all. I'm very pleased that my boat is well received. Of course it has already been given an adequate berth. I think in the pictures above you can even see a little dust that landed on the model during the construction phase. And that even though I covered it with a cardboard box during construction breaks. Have a look..... Edited September 20, 2023 by madtatt 11
ArnoldAmbrose Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 Gidday Jolle, it's good to see that such an exquisite model will be protected. BTW, that's a very tidy work bench. It's not natural, get some junk on it! 😁 Regards, Jeff. 4
madtatt Posted September 20, 2023 Author Posted September 20, 2023 Thanks Jeff. Believe me, this is not the natural state of this workbench. That was just to pose. 😉 2

Keeff Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 That is awesome ..... loads of detail and the rigging and weathering are superb! 👌 It definitely needs pride of place! Keith 😁 1
Dancona Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 Well I think that you have just set the gold standard that all of us 1/200 builders are aspiring to !! Very well done, just the right degree of weathering, and some lovely set pieces with the crew. cheers David 1
Zoran Srb Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 Wow ! Just, WOW !!! Very, very, VERY well done Sir!! Construction, painting, weathering, rigging, figure composition..... 10/10 !!! She's a beautiful beast, and you did her justice !!!! I just hope that we won't have to wait two years for the next one!! Although, she's worth the wait... 👍👍👍 1
kiseca Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 I was just going to say WOW! but I see I've been beaten to it, more than once! 1

I became unfaithful to building model ships and started building a spaceship. Unfortunately it is a childhood dream of mine as I am a big Star Wars fan, to build the Milenium Falcon. But I swear, after that we'll move on to the next ship straight away. You can choose from the Mikasa and the Yamato from Japan or the Rodney from England. Edited September 20, 2023 by madtatt 1

I have both Mikasa and Yamato in stash (but in 350th scale), and although Yamato is most impressive, both of them can be seen... But Rodney... that's a rare fish, so if you might consider her... That would be a real treat.... That doesn't mean that you should put Millennium Falcon away, and if it's in 72nd scale.. Yay !!! 1
madtatt Posted September 20, 2023 Author Posted September 20, 2023 Phew, I'm reassured. Great, so we'll be reading a lot more about each other. I'm happy. It's still a while before the decision is made as to which ship it will be. But I will let you know in good time. 😉
Farmerboy Posted September 21, 2023 Posted September 21, 2023 Stunning work, you ship modellers never fail to impress with your skills and patience, good job! 1
