Lots of stencils...not impossible.  I have found that they actually can make the model, especially one that is a single overall greyish colour.

Nice progress! I also plan on festooning mine with stencils.

Thanks Andre.  And 'festoon' is the right word.

Even if applying all the stencil decals does take a few sessions it'll be worthwhile work John. The -25 just doesn't look right without them.

Indeed. Apart from the New ICM PU none of the four kits I'm working on have much in the way of stencilling, some "Eh, in the ballpark" leftover Eduard MiG-21 bits will have to do.

Cheers,

I agree.  In fact I feel if there are stencils, use them, regardless.

That works too, especially at 1/72nd scale.

And so I began the stencils at 20:15 last night.  Port side, starboard, top and bottom.  I used almost every one on the sheet.  There were some leftovers, mostly extra wee tiny ones.  Then I decided I might as well add the rest of the decals.  So I did.

I feel pretty good about this.   I followed the directions.  When I return from the mainland I can give it some matte varnish, weathering, soot, etc...and wrap it up.  I still have all the little pointy bits to attach and the wheels obviously.

Ad how about that 2024 GB poll?  Very nice...😁

I rallied last night for about 2 hours and I think she's finished.  All the pointy bits have been attached and , I think, she is suitably weathered.  I have to set up a better photo shoot for the gallery.  I used some FloryWash for the weathering and it did not behave they way I was used to.  Maybe it was the matte varnish that I used?  I used the Humbrol Clear Matt spray this time instead of the Vallejo Satin.  The Florywash soaked into the surface and would not wash off with water, or spit.  I eventually used some acrylic thinner and that was better.  I also went back with a wide soft hairy brush and gave some more paint here and there.  Here are some pictures...Actually, I still have to add the bombs...

This is a big aircraft.  Easily twice the size of the Mig-21.  Very big engines require a large airframe, I guess.

On the shelf with her smaller cousins...

The rest are in the gallery.  Thank you all so much for an enjoyable STGB.  Now it's time for me to wrap up the DAK diorama before it's too late!
