helios16v Posted August 26, 2023 Posted August 26, 2023 Parts are in the sink, probably won't be able to get a start until tomorrow, as today is going to be busy. 9
JOCKNEY Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 Oooo a Classic in every way Looking forward to seeing this one Cheers Pat 1
helios16v Posted August 27, 2023 Author Posted August 27, 2023 Fiddly bits waiting for the cockpit primer to dry. 2
helios16v Posted August 27, 2023 Author Posted August 27, 2023 Not sure what I was thinking deciding to build a short run kit in a Blitzbuild. Anyway, progress being made....and lots of resin dust to get the wings to fit. 5 2 1
81-er Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 You fancied a challenge? I've also just noticed the Escort Cosworth on your lock screen, very nice James 1
helios16v Posted August 28, 2023 Author Posted August 28, 2023 Odds of making the deadline are slim to none at this point. I needed to be ready for paint by mid afternoon (1800 now). But, we will soldier on nonetheless. Slowly taking shape. And regardless if it makes the deadline or not, it will be a nice addition to the shelf. The Eduard P-39 would've been a much better choice for this. I significantly underestimated how much prep these parts were going to require. We won't discuss having to rebuild the engine because the fuselage wouldn't close up during a test fit.... 3
helios16v Posted August 28, 2023 Author Posted August 28, 2023 Fuselage & wing fit surprisingly good for a short run kit. If I didn't have to work tomorrow, I could probably get it done. Oh well, such is live. 4
helios16v Posted August 28, 2023 Author Posted August 28, 2023 Going to call it a night on this one. I'm still going to push on and see if I can finish it this week w/ the 24 hour build time cap. 7
JeroenS Posted August 28, 2023 Posted August 28, 2023 Still, not a bad result for the time you spent! 1
AdrianMF Posted August 28, 2023 Posted August 28, 2023 Looking forward to seeing it get finished. Regards, Adrian 1
helios16v Posted September 5, 2023 Author Posted September 5, 2023 Still making headway. Since it's blown past the Blitzbuild, I'm spending a bit more time in some areas to clean things up a little bit more...and fiddling with some extra details. Tamiya airframe jig. One last spot of filler, then off to the paint booth. 4
Caerbannog Posted September 6, 2023 Posted September 6, 2023 Just stumbled about this, as I was wondering whn this GB starts 🙂 Well seems I missed it... However I just had to say how impressed I am that you entered a Classic Airframes kit and even got that far. I quite like the CA kits and think they build much nicer than some reviews suggest, still they are not Tamiya shake'n'bake. That said: Very nice build so far! 1
helios16v Posted September 24, 2023 Author Posted September 24, 2023 Decals are on. Down to final assembly. 6
