Drop Bear
Hi Friends I'm doing a little research on RAAF Korean War F.8 "Halestorm" for my upcoming build, in 1:72. My Research indicates that it was common for these Meteors to carry (only) 2 X rockets, one on each inner rail, while on recce tasks, and Hale's Meteor was in this configuration when it achieved it's kill/s. There's a photo here on the Australian War Memorial Website - if you search "AWM JK0656" you will find it. The Airfix Kit does not include rockets and so far I'm unable to locate some aftermarket in this scale. Does anyone have a suggestion for me? Appreciate any guidance.......... Cheers, Alistair
Julien
Were they UK 60LB rockets or US 5" ones as the RAAF did use both in Korea I think

PhantomBigStu
The MPM RAAF boxing (which Ihave) includes a set of resin rockets
Dave Fleming
The 1/72 FR9 Club kit boxing of the Meteor has the rockets, albeit on the rails, so separating them might be interesting! I suspect an RAAF boxing is coming soon Edited August 9, 2023 by Dave Fleming

I already have a resin set of 60lb Rockets & Rails from a previous Mk XXI Beaufighter project, the above look to be of similar detail -of the larger/heavier looking WW2 vintage. Korean Meteor rails are far lighter in their design. Yes, the Airfix 1/48 has nailed it, however I am the proud owner of the 1/72 version 🥺 As 3 of my 4 rails on each side are to be sans rocket, I pretty much need Korean era rails, with separate rockets. Can't seem to find any in aftermarket so perhaps I have to wait a while longer.....

Giorgio N
Red Roo made a number of sets for RAAF Meteors, including a couple with different types of rockets. It was a few years ago but a quick search showed that some can still be found

Cheers, Alistair Can you get your hands on an old FROG sea Venom? there are four empty rails in that kit, maybe you could ask someone down to donate them, as the kit also provides rails with rockets as an alternative. I could certainly work with these if they're surplus to you as the separate rails look perfect .... Happy to to see if I can offer anything back other than just good karma! I'll wait until you've thought this through - there's no hurry as I'm only 50% done on a Lancaster B.MkII, and I work real slow.
