russ c Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 Hi everyone, Just finished my latest Pacific WWII build, so I thought you woudn`t mind if I bothered you with some photo`s My second go at a Vindicator This time from Academy`s re-issue of the Accurate Minatures 1/48 kit Built completely OOB Only thing I added was the aerial wire Forgot to delete 3 of the guns and had to do it after almost finishing it 🙄 Apart from trying to close the fuselage round all that detailed interior went together a lot easier than I remember..... ..although I had to add some plastic strip to the engine cowling where I managed to sand of the the raised detail. Anyway I imagine I`ve bored you enough now, thanks for looking Cheers Russ 63
georgeusa Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 If all of your builds are as nice as this one, you can bore me all day, every day. This is a great looking Vindicator. I do miss Accurate Miniatures. Their kits were always so nice. You have done this one justice. Your diorama built around the model is also terrific. Thanks for sharing. 1
Old Man Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 That looks great, Russ! A good subject, too. There's something fascinates in the spell before calamity. 1
Guest Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 The model and diorama look just fantastic. Well done, Russ. A pleasure to view.
Rod bettencourt Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 Once again Russ very cool subject and nicely executed. Rod 1
Zigomar Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 Up to your usual standard Russ! No trouble with the canopy indeed? 1
jean Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 Hi Russ, the only boring thing is the regularity with which you offer us true masterpieces, each and every time. This one is no exception. It is US Navy perfection. Congratulation are definitely inn order! JR 1 1
Winded Penguin Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 This is excellent. Thank you for posting 👍 1

Not agreeing with the above would be inexcusable. You said it far better than I ever could. 1

Mattp7999 Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 Very well done Russ excellent looking Vindicator. 🙂 Regards Matt 1
112 Squadron Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 Thank you for sharing the pictures Russ. This is a really awesome model and once again you did a great job. 👍 The Vindicator tends to be overlooked even though it played a vital role in the early stages of the war. 1
Dunny Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 Russ, Lovely build and finish of this most ineffective of aircraft. I built a Chesapeake a couple of years ago and enjoyed the kit, Cheers, Roger 1 1
fox1_BE Posted July 26, 2023 Posted July 26, 2023 That is a great looking Vindicator, Russ - I really like the weathering effects around the panel lines: top job 👍 1
Mark Harmsworth Posted July 26, 2023 Posted July 26, 2023 That's a truly lovely build. I have the Acc Miniatures boxing of the SB2U-1 in the stash and I'll be thrilled if it turns out anything like yours. Congrats Mark 1
TheyJammedKenny! Posted July 26, 2023 Posted July 26, 2023 Ace build from @russ c! All I had to do was see the name and subject matter, and though it's in 48th, just had to look. As for the scene, I think even the pre-War USMC would have kept the fuel drums farther away from the aircraft, even at a satellite airfield, especially because PacFlt was already on "high alert" and taking exceptional measures to safeguard aircraft. Of course, nobody said anything about attacking on a Sunday morning in December. Most ungentlemanly! 1

Thanks Jean, like I said, I`d already had one go at this kit, so knew what to expect. just sanded the bottoms off the internal bits before fitting to make sure they slid together easily. Cheers Russ 1
