The owner obviously wants to protect it - its got a good old fashioned crook lock on !

  I agree with you @keefr22 with the XR4 esque tri window , but it looks like a decent build , the interior trim seems to fit well .

Saw this in Waitrose carpark on friday, I can't remember the last time I saw one.

Not sure about the home made custom paint though!

I'm pretty sure it's a conversion.  If you look at the roofline above the B pillar you'll see the inconsistency 'twixt front and rear sections.  Also, just forward of the rear wheelarch there's a similar inconsistency at sill level.  Damn' well executed though.

Ha ha, he/she'll be lucky, had an Astra GTE nicked three times with one of those useless things on - only thing they do is waste fuel as you're carrying extra weight for nothing.... !! :rofl2:

Personally I think he might just as well leave it with the doors unlocked.  And the engine running... 😁

Could you tell if it was the V6? I'd love to have an MX-3 V6, and if it's in Sheffield....

best,

M.

Don't know really . Passed it a few times as we were bringing daughter and her stuff home from Uni . Didn't like the wheels - bad trims I thought. It was in really good condition  . Sydney Street car park if you know Sheffield  !

Here's a conundrum.

I managed to get this photo of the rear end of a car parked up in Olton, near Solihull.

IMG_1633

I only cought a glimpse of it as it went past me intoi the car park, but it is a very boxy car, at both the front and the rear.

Doing a sneaky look up to the car tax web page, I discovered it was a Nissan, registered in 1991.

From this poor photo and the knowledge it is a Nissan, does anyone know what model the car is?

There is one of those near here, same colour, lettered for a local architects. I remember actually stopping him years ago and asking what on earth it was. See it regularly but never with the camera.

@cmatthewbacon,

thanks for the ident. I see from a quick google search that it is in the same sort of "class" as the Daihatsu Copen and the Suzuki Cappucino, examples of which I have seen in Wolverhampton.. Albeit 20 years ago!

@Farmer matt ,

We didn't get the chance to ask the driver anything about it, we were off before she got out of the car.

Very interesting, I like the kei cars and trucks.

There may well be a kei truck in my future...

Not the most popular of the breed, 2006 fifth gen Mustang.

Not all that loved, but the 5th gen is a lot better looking, and more like a Mustang, than the 3rd and 4th gen.

The best thing you can do with them is steal the front end for a hot rod...

That particular set of Kei cars from Nissan are also known as the Pike cars because of the design centre they came from. They were all introduced in 1989-91 and include the Pao, the Figaro (which we see a lot more of over here), the Be1 (which I've never seen) and the pleasingly named S'Cargo van (which does look like French snail...). I think the idea is that if the specs of the vehicle are so constrained by standards (engine size and power, physical size etc) then the only way to compete is in design. The Pike cars are particularly "post-modern" hence their popularity with architects and hipsters. There are some real gems among the kei cars -- the Honda Beat, which is like a mini S2000, the Suzuki Capuccino, which is like a mini MX-5, and the Autozam AZ-1, which is more on the lines of a mini NSX. Those ones I have kits of.... I don't know what if any of the Pike cars are available as kits, but the chances are that if any are they'll be made by Fujimi or Aoshima and available from Plaza Japan or Kent Models if you're lucky!

best,

M.

I have to say it's my favourite looking Mustang since the Mach1. Better looking than the current generation too in my opinion. When I was in Dubai in around 2013 these Mustangs were more common than Golfs, but styling wise I thought it was a return to form for the model.

I just looked that up, and it turns out that is what the local car wash have as their promo vehicle. It is bright orange, and so terribly basic that I thought it was only a quirky advertising thing rather than a 'real' vehicle.

Live and learn.

That two door Sierra estate. Just a thought. Was it a South Africa model only perhaps?

No two / three door Sierras were on sale in South Africa at all from what I recall. The estate was a four door, the rest of the Sierras were 5 door hatchbacks and the Sapphires were all 4 door sedans (like the rest of the world, if I recall).

We never got any of the Cosworth models in SA, from the RS500 to the Sapphire Cosworth. We also didn't get the XR4×4. All our Sierras and Sapphires were rear wheel drive only. We did get a V6, but it was the old Essex 3.0 lump as found in a Mk 2 Capri (ironically also not avaialable in SA, we got mk 1s only). We never got the Cologne engine.

Even the home grown, Windsor V8 engined XR8 / Animal was based on the 5 door bodyshell.

Last one was the public unveiling of the Callum Skye. Described as the world's, "most beautiful high-performance multi-terrain vehicle", which isn't much of an accolade, and in any case already taken by the Giugiaro Parcour. I'd say it's funky, not beautiful.

Sorry, Matt IMHO it's horrible.

There are some other very nice cars there to drool over, however. So thanks for posting them.
