I think it was better that I didn't. Service costs would have ruined my finance.

A couple of seriously enthusiastic classic car journalists on Octane bought one together a few years ago and the sold it after two years because it was gorgeous but compromised when it worked and ruinous when it didn’t (which was a lot of the time…). Sometimes it’s best to let the dream, be a dream…

best,

M.

I remember these articles and maybe second journalist was Mark Dixon, if I remember correctly. And yes I am aware that it is very complex car with temperament.

I recall this too - didn't they do a European Tour (Le Mans?) with it?

This is not an area of Britmodeller that I usually frequent and have never posted in before.

Just after leaving home this afternoon this passed me

If you do an internet search on JP 7422 you will find some images of the Bentley when it was sold at auction and before restoration/

The Maxi looks mint. Not sure it should be on black & white plates though?

Today in Kirton Lindsey an L reg orange Beetle. Very good condition and very wide cream steel wheels on the back, Chrome dog dish hubcaps.

According to How rare is my car?, there are just 13 left, of which just two are blue.

As for the size, that is usually the first thing that alerts me to something interesting on its way. Even 'large' cars from only twenty years ago tend to have a significantly smaller road prescence.

A nice selection of cars. I think I'd go for the yellow 1600 Sport. And I have to say I prefer 914's without bubbles. Sorry.

Thanks for posting. I hope you get a break from the madness soon.

Thanks Pete, things should calm down after the weekend.  There were quite a few Escorts and that yellow 1600 sport was gorgeous.

Re the 914s,  I don't mind either, but  when I do look for one I think it will be a narrow bodied one, I couldn't afford a genuine bubble arched 914-6 unfortunately. 😪

I like all of these 6 cars!

All of them more or less not original,  more some kind of tuners.

They perfectly reprensent the old times...

The complete restoration, it looks fantastic, not sure what the Bentley cognoscenti would make of it though.

Posted (edited)

Saw this in Waitrose carpark on friday, I can't remember the last time I saw one.

Not sure about the home made custom paint though!

I think it’s a kind of JDM thing; painting the car to look like an anime or manga image!

More to the point, a 2-door Sierra Estate seems unusual?  Whatever it seems loved and has a brand new MOT!

Ah yes I knew something looked odd about it.

I just did a quick google and could find no mention of a 2 door estate?

Urban camo...??!!

I have to admit I had absolutely no idea what it was! I thought the 'triangular' window looked XR4i'ish but the estate bit completely threw me! :)
