Have to say I prefer the colour of the Trabby, but I'd have the Merc (then I'd sell it to get something more interesting....!! )

Sunday spot around my town. It wasn't much, but it was fun

IMG-0236.jpg

Been a while since the last time I met this McLaren GT, owned by a GT race driver (did Le Mans twice in a Porsche 991 RSR, if I remembered correctly)

IMG-0309.jpg

One of the more tastefully-modded Aventador. The gold ADV.1 wheels and gold accents I actually kind of like, but the spec of the car itself is top-notch. A tri-coat pearl white paint called Balloon White (no, seriously, Lambo called it Balloon White) with full leather interior in Nero Ade/Terra Emilia (that's a black/earthy brown combo). And it is a very well-used car too since the owner acquired it brand new in 2013. Lucky enough to have ride about 4 years ago, it is one of the most well-sorted Aventador I've tried, smooth and feels like it's carved from a block of granite. Still quite savage though, in terms of engine and gearbox.

IMG-0377.jpg

Something I have not seen for a while, an unmodified, almost basic 991.1 Carrera S. This is from the day when it's still easy to tell 2WD 911s from AWD ones. RWD Carreras have narrow hips and no light strips at the back. Nowadays the 992 Carreras are all the same, be it RWD or AWD.

IMG-0411.jpg

Weird car of the day. Honda's pocket 'supercar'. An S660. This tiny thing have a turbocharged 660cc engine mounted in the middle. VERY expensive here, though. Over GBP60k. Because apparently those who import this thought they should make money twice the original price of the car.

IMG-0442.jpg

An unnecessarily gigantic GMC Yukon Denali. This kind of gargantuan SUVs are considered peculiarities here. Not surprising, our roads are not that big. That red tow truck behind it went home after towing the next car...

IMG-0473.jpg

... Which is a Porsche 944. I assume this is either a 2.7 or the 944S. Whilst Porsche is a relatively common sight in sportscar world here in Indonesia, 944 and all transaxle Porsches are considered oddities here, since they were introduced before Porsche ever considered entering Indonesian market. Even weirder, there were import bans imposed by the evil wretched murderous dictatorship of Suharto. Said ban was only lifted in 1999, but there were still bans on importing secondhand cars here. However, from what I've gathered said bans are about to be lifted, with secondhand imports being allowed to be used on the whole weekend and after 06:00 p.m. on weekdays.

IMG-0445.jpg

This original Series 1 Range Rover isn't too shabby either. In fact, I think both the 944 and the RR Classic can make a nice 2-car classic garage. I don't want to imagine the bill, or the fact that either will probably prefer to wet themselves every morning instead of... y'know, actually working, but it is nice to imagine owning both.

On yet another trip to the supermarket, this was in the car p[ark just across from where I'd parked, all buttoned up as we were expecting some dirty weather. I think I've reported it before but not sure if it ever got a photo, nice enough to stand a repeat if I did.

Before I got to here though I had a couple of other stops & passed along the way a very smart looking Lotus Elan Plus 2 in bright shiny red with a pale roof . Either newly restored or a copy I reckon but at a quick glance as we passed at close to 100 kph, it looked genuine enough.

Also I spotted one of audi R8 e-trons when going to test track this week. Sorry no photo (It's okay to photograph it today. It's published prototype). Not too many built.

This, I believe, is a Wolsley Swallow, or a Hornet

That is lovely Rob, not one I've heard of before but such a pretty little car. Not sure if that is the best description but it works for me.

We had an outing this morning to go get some firewood, ready for next winter you see & best of all, free. The forest company that runs the plantations for the local council had advertised free firewood. A ute load or 6x4 trailer load per household. (Yeah right!)  Setting off a bit before the appointed time we soon ran into a tailback ☹️ We moved about 5 KMs in the next hour. Seems like most of the district wanted firewood & a helluva lot wanted more than their due. Many were the utes with heaped rear decks towing tandem cage trailers also heaped to the max. Long story short, we never got there. Word passed along the queue the wood was all gone so we bailed  out & headed home. Not a wasted day though. Among the spots I made were a 1963 Ford Thunderbird, a 2005 Bentley Continental ( I do like those) & on the way home a 1967 Wolseley 16/60 towing a trailer. If it was firewood he was after, forget it mate. :D

I went to a car and bike show on the weekend.

It's an annual thing and usually fairly small with the same cars turning up each year.

This year was a surprise with over 100 vehicles and some really interesting stuff.

It was busy and I didn't get good photos of too many cars. What you see below are the only ones I got without people obscuring the view.

1967 SS Chevelle with a 396 big block.

There's a lot of chrome dress-up parts on the original engine and the wheels don't do it for me, but the interior was original and in amazing condition.

If it were mine I'd do a chrome delete and find some Rallye wheels but still, a very nice car...

spacer.png

1962 Pontiac Laurentian.

These cars were built in Canada and shipped CKD to Australia (and NZ and South Africa I think).

Factory right-hand drive which is great. It's a mirror-image of the US setup so no fudged-up mounts for anything and a proper RHD steering box.

It's the same as my 1962 Chevrolet Bel Air except for the exterior sheet metal. Same roof, glass, inner body, and chassis. They all had the 1961 Chevy dash and interior.

The Pontiacs even came with a Chevy 283 small block and cast iron Powerglide auto, not sure about the six cylinder option for Pontiac but likely it was the Chevrolet 235.

This one has a 4-barrel Holley carb (original was a 2-barrel Rochester), some dress-up parts, and a new aluminium radiator but still has the old 283.

spacer.png

1954-ish FJ Holden panel van.

There were some of these red mail and telephone repair vans still around when I was a kid, having been sold off to the general public,

They didn't look as good as this one!

spacer.png

Triumph TR3A.

Absolutely immaculate, the only visible mods being the bonnet straps, spotlights, and a roll-bar with anchors for 4-point harnesses.

Next to it is a very nice Honda 750 Four/CB750. I forgot to take any more photos of that unfortunately.

spacer.png

There were far fewer bikes than cars and most of them were just nicely kept new Ducatis and Triumphs with a few Harley choppers.

Someone had brought along an early bevel-drive Ducati but I couldn't get a decent photo for all the people standing around it.

There were three Z1/Z900s and the Honda seen above but I didn't get any decent photos of them either.

I did photograph this Suzuki GT750.

The drum brake makes it a 1972 model I think.

This was an amazing restoration, everything looked like new and absolutely correct to the original as far as I could tell.

Nice and almost original 1973(?) Z900 in the background,

spacer.png

1981 Kawasaki Z1300.

I had a conversation with the owner.

He got it running and then started on another project but he intends to finish it.

I couldn't see much left to do. The side cover was only missing because he forgot to put it on before leaving home that morning.

spacer.png

One vehicle I really regret not photographing was a Bedford 4WD High-Rise CF2, rarer than rocking-horse droppings.

Out & about yesterday, a 1991 Alfa Romeo 33, in what appeared tidy unrestored condition & then after dropping my son to a team building exercise at a local indoor sports centre, an original looking, quite a lot of "patina" Austin 1800, in a fawn grey sort of colour (primer?) I have happy memories of these vehicles, in my case a Wolseley version, my girl friends mother's one.  I was allowed to use it to take my girlfriend out. My word, but there was a lot of room in the back seats of them. :D

Followed a VW bus inti Kirton Lindsay yesterday afternoon. It looked very straight with a six digit number plate.

It only had small red tail lights and i guessed maybe an American import. It signaled right at the crossroads and the red tail light blinked!

How did it get an MOT then? No reflectors either. Naughty!

Pardon the pun; a flashing rear light as an indicator indicates it is most likely an import from USA

Pre 1963 or 1965 (I forget which) imported US vehicles are allowed this

and afair pre-1963 UK vehicles are allowed to have them as well

Going to Jakarta again for 3 days last weekend, I need to finish some work before year's end (including making new contents, obvs). Last weekend was pretty rad, to say the least.

IMG-0517.jpg

A 488 Pista in Grigio Silverstone. Sadly no satin gold wheels here.

IMG-0525.jpg

When it was first launched in 2020, I thought Ferrari Roma was not my cup of tea. Once I hit my 30s this year I thought "Man that would be a lovely grand tourer". Especially in this stunning shade of Grigio Ingrid, named after Roberto Rossellini's wife, Ingrid Bergman. Why? Back in the 1954 Rossellini commissioned a coachbuilder by the name of Sergio Scaglietti to design something special for Bergman. Thus the 375MM Pininfarina 'Bergman Coupe' was born. Ferrari honoured this by incorporating the 375MM's side scallop to the 612 Scaglietti of 2004, as well as introducing Grigio Ingrid as its launch colour. It's a beautiful light beige-ish grey like Porsche's Geyser Grey Metallic, but with deeper, richer metallic flakes to it that just accentuates the car's line under strong sunlight. Perfect for elegant Ferraris like the Roma.

IMG-0547.jpg

A 993 Turbo in Basalt Black. Unfortunately I forgot to take photos of the 964 Turbo behind it. But then again I have seen and photographed said car several times before so... eh.

IMG-0556.jpg

One of currently only 2 964 Carrera RS 3.6 known to exist in Indonesia, this one is in Guards Red. Once it was wrapped in Nardo Grey, but it looks boring. The other one is in my favourite colour for 964, Rubystone Red.

IMG-0617.jpg

A gorgeous 930 Turbo 3.3 in my favourite colour for G-body 911s, Garnet Red Metallic. In person this colour is rich and very metallic, I wish Porsche would reintroduce it as PTS in the future.

IMG-0661.jpg

An NA1 NSX R in your usual spec of Championship White. I don't know what body kit it was fitted with, though.

IMG-0630.jpg

This, however, takes the cake as the craziest car of the day. The only CLK DTM AMG Cabriolet in Indonesia. One of only 80 ever built, and only 6 in right-hand drive. Mad props to the owner for bringing this thing out for a drive, he traded his SLS Black for this. Whilst I'm a big SLS Black fanboy, I'd say he made a very inspired decision to get CLK DTM.

IMG-0680.jpg

Back in South Jakarta, and with this rather spiffing E30 M3. Yes, it's RHD. It was converted into RHD to make life's easier and allowing it to be registered. Then again, the only Lancia Delta Integrale in existence here is still LHD, so what do I know...

IMG-0695.jpg

An MSO Napier Green 765LT. Not quite as sweet-looking as 675LT, but still one of my favourite McLaren.

IMG-0705.jpg

A Huracan STO in Grigio Telesto with Rosso Mars accent package. Much to my surprise there are more STOs here than the old Performante.

IMG-0721.jpg

One of my favourite modern Ferrari, the 458 Speciale in launch spec of Rosso Corsa and Blu NART stripe. Speciales are harder to find now, compared with when it was new.

IMG-0738.jpg

While I'm a Porsche fanboy, if I'm being honest I'd pick the Nismo GT-R SV over the 992 Turbo S. Those are wrap, by the way, not the original BRG paint.

IMG-0757.jpg

718 Cayman GT4 RS in what I think is the prettiest colour in current 'normal' Porsche colour range, Gentian Blue Metallic. It's very, VERY metallic with deep blue base and plenty of purplish flake to it.

A pimped up Dacia Sandero.

When I say ‘pimped’ I mean it had several blinking orange lights on the radiator grill (surely that’s illegal?)
