Hi Johnny, just having a look around the various wrecks that are in the process, hunting for ideas..... This is an excellent level of dilapidation!

It's a real mind-bending theme for modellers to get their heads around, isn't it??

Hope you're well on the way to recovery

Must admit, I thought @Marklowas ordering up the parts for a "Back to the Future" deLorean build. I think I'm in the picture now. It's a Van de Graf seive thing......

Thanks Rob. Its a great GB but I really need to get a move on. Cant wait to give the seive a go.

AK interactive Rust And Crust:- Ah ok mate I see , I have Vallejos Enviromental Rust and its acrylic based but sounds the same , not a lot of texture in it,

BTW how the hell do you do chipping like that? Mines seems I dunno just wrong, I never seem to get a good finish, it always ends up looking like its blistered rather than smooth like yours .

yes you probably have all the rust stuff you need. As for the chipping I just use the stuff listed in this ere build. I do like using both masking fluid and chipping fluid. I always find less is more. BTW Im loving your back yard mig build. I think the look youre achieving is spot on.

Hey!! Its been a while. I was away last weekend so no bench time.

53130411311_72f72ba483_b.jpg

although I did find something that reminded me of this GB.

53130621204_1f83fc302d_b.jpg

I also managed to pick up Nora virus that took me out for a few days but Im back at 100% now thank heavens.

Thanks for the well wishes.

Now for the build.

The engine got weathered enough for its hidden location.

53130621414_ae2c18f550_b.jpg

I had a go at some graffiti but nothing looked right and it all looked a bit forced so for now I have just added a few choice decals that make me happy. Theres one in the rear you can see up there.

I sanded them back to make them look worn.

53130621514_ea7da68695_b.jpg

Heres a little one on the rear. Stull needs picking at.

53129818302_6f2f742fcb_b.jpg

The engine gets hidden away. But at least we all know its there right.

53130411091_4702e9d928_b.jpg

Time for some work on the base. A bit of plaster of Paris. And we have some nice mud and a lake side.

53130894878_a4c4260706_b.jpg

Also had a go at using the moulds.

53130621664_6b2e19f5d3_b.jpg

Popping it in place I think Ive added more than I thought.

53129818272_748cfeb1d9_b.jpg

the water level wont cover quite as much of the keep as I had originally planned. Glad I added that engine now.

53130621629_21cb7863e7_b.jpg

Started adding a few washes to get the footwells more worn and grotty. Aand painted the dash blue again. (Couldnt get on with the orange)

53130621484_5881b0944d_b.jpg

Everything is just a bit shiny which is knocking me off, but I know itll look fine when the mat coat goes down.

the base got primed. I know it looks the same but it is grey and ready for paint.

53130411161_56ed9e8a86_b.jpg

And the little moulded rocks too. (Bless)

53130894893_4b2a071101_b.jpg

Right, put a fork in me Im done.
Hope youre still enjoying the build. Really need to get a bit of a shufty on I think. I want to start on that grass.

More soon.

Happy modelling chums.

Ah, dredging for bikes in Amsterdam's canals, nice hobby and a certainty of catching something.

Your base is coming together, nice work on that. You seem to be a virus magnet Johnny, hope you've recovered well!

Hey ho. Hope you have all had a splendid week. Work, teenagers with GCSE results and getting ready for our holiday has left little time for brunch activities but some progress has been made. And you know what they say? All progress is good progress. 弧

Cant remember if youd seen the wheels but they got painted their rusty colour then had a dose of chipping fluid.

I began to mask like this.

53141702299_9614a79c77_b.jpg

Id done about three like this.

53141972173_a50e731b0c_b.jpg

When I remembered that I do wheel masking like a canopy. 丹儭

much easier.

53140902007_b9239e0df0_b.jpg

I did the wheels mostly white.

53141914770_59763c5c80_b.jpg

With one olive drab.

You can see where I have put a little masking fluid too.

53140901892_4858fedd6f_b.jpg

I decided to use orange for the Jerry cans. I love this colour.

53141914810_09db6da4fe_b.jpg

Then remembered that it clashes with the rust so only did one. Multi coloured cans it is. Here they are with a first pass of chips.

53141914895_af9beefa10_b.jpg

Wheels.

53141972048_afa576686c_b.jpg

Busted seats.

53140901767_f9e24326ee_b.jpg

And all the control stuff.

53141972198_78c9475f87_b.jpg

And there we are. Not loads but A little is better that Nowt. Off on my holidays in a day so nothing for a week. Ill have to catch up with your wonderful builds wont I.

Hope youre enjoying the build. Happy modelling.

It's all coming together very nicely.

I've gone for the rust on top of the paint option, but I think I'll have a go at this chipping lark at some point in the future.

After all, who doesn't like chips!?

If youre on a budget hairspray works. I use a cheap can I got from Dealz.

My chi ha being an extreme example. If you check the build thread. I painted it in various rust shades then clear varnish then a good coat of hairspray than the camo in acrylics and distress it back with a wet brush and or scraper. I also have a fibreglass brush which is good for heavy wear.

Hey Britmodellers its seems like forever since I sat at the bench to work on this build.

Brighton came and went. Lovely place!

53185760899_7985cffc2b_b.jpg 53184986662_1462a137f6_b.jpg

And even a little Entropy.

53186069033_632b632d43_b.jpg

Zero thought it was too hot.

53186068978_bd348712f2_b.jpg

Typically like this time last year I found myself browsing model shops online and while a little tipsy made a purchase.

53186069048_5bb11997eb_b.jpg

oops! What with the hot weather and spending time tinkering with RC set ups for the new buggy and my other cars my spare time has not found its way to the bench unfortunately. Im aware that time is running out so I need to pull my finger out. So now its cooler up in the cave I got back at it.

In a bit of a limbo I decided to just start gluing things and moving forward. Soooo Steering wheel, gear sticks, seats, greeblies, wheels and bonnet on.

53185898220_fbed8688d8_b.jpg

the flat works well I think.

53184986827_e61464d044_b.jpg

The little Jerry cans are lose for now.

53184986427_c60b2be6f6_b.jpg

And I decided to glue the filter can thing on the front too.

53184986577_4151afb9e1_b.jpg

I glued some of the moulded rocks in place with ca and pre shaded.

53184986822_5cf496e209_b.jpg

Then added some base colours.

53185696001_dbd9e75e84_b.jpg

This will need top coating before the static grass and bushes get added.

A little dry fit to scope out where stuff will go.

53185696096_0e2266b44a_b.jpg 53186069098_7ec63d5c6e_b.jpg

Looking forward to the water going in and all the drips and marks on the jeep that will bring along with it. Plus I cant wait to knock that blasted gloss back.

more soon.
