It's a real mind-bending theme for modellers to get their heads around, isn't it?? 🙄 Hope you're well on the way to recovery 👍💐 Must admit, I thought @Marklowas ordering up the parts for a "Back to the Future" deLorean build. I think I'm in the picture now. It's a Van de Graf seive thing...... 🤩 Thanks Rob. It’s a great GB but I really need to get a move on. Can’t wait to give the seive a go. 😀 19 hours ago, giemme said: Get well soon, Johnny! 🤞 Ciao Thanks G. All better now. 😇 37 minutes ago, Mark Cassidy said: AK interactive Rust And Crust:- Ah ok mate I see , I have Vallejos Enviromental Rust and its acrylic based but sounds the same , not a lot of texture in it, BTW how the hell do you do chipping like that? Mines seems I dunno just wrong, I never seem to get a good finish, it always ends up looking like its blistered rather than smooth like yours . 😆 yes you probably have all the rust stuff you need. As for the chipping I just use the stuff listed in this ‘ere build. I do like using both masking fluid and chipping fluid. I always find less is more. BTW I’m loving your back yard mig build. 🙌 I think the look you’re achieving is spot on. Johnny 2
The Spadgent Posted August 20, 2023 Author Posted August 20, 2023 Hey!! It’s been a while. I was away last weekend so no bench time. although I did find something that reminded me of this GB. I also managed to pick up Nora virus that took me out for a few days but I’m back at 100% now thank heavens. Thanks for the well wishes. Now for the build. The engine got weathered enough for its hidden location. I had a go at some graffiti but nothing looked right and it all looked a bit forced so for now I have just added a few choice decals that make me happy. There’s one in the rear you can see up there. I sanded them back to make them look worn. Here’s a little one on the rear. Stull needs picking at. The engine gets hidden away. But at least we all know it’s there right. 🙃 Time for some work on the base. A bit of plaster of Paris. And we have some nice mud and a lake side. Also had a go at using the moulds. Popping it in place I think I’ve added more than I thought. the water level won’t cover quite as much of the keep as I had originally planned. Glad I added that engine now. Started adding a few washes to get the footwells more worn and grotty. Aand painted the dash blue again. (Couldn’t get on with the orange) Everything is just a bit shiny which is knocking me off, but I know it’ll look fine when the mat coat goes down. the base got primed. I know it looks the same but it is grey and ready for paint. And the little moulded rocks too. (Bless) Right, put a fork in me I’m done. Hope you’re still enjoying the build. Really need to get a bit of a shufty on I think. I want to start on that grass. 😇😇 More soon. Happy modelling chums. Johnny 20

The Spadgent Posted August 25, 2023 Author Posted August 25, 2023 Hey ho. Hope you have all had a splendid week. Work, teenagers with GCSE results and getting ready for our holiday has left little time for brunch activities but some progress has been made. And you know what they say? All progress is good progress. 🩷 Can’t remember if you’d seen the wheels but they got painted their rusty colour then had a dose of chipping fluid. I began to mask like this. I’d done about three like this. When I remembered that I do wheel masking like a canopy. 🤦♂️ much easier. I did the wheels mostly white. With one olive drab. You can see where I have put a little masking fluid too. I decided to use orange for the Jerry cans. I love this colour. Then remembered that it clashes with the rust so only did one. Multi coloured cans it is. Here they are with a first pass of chips. Wheels. Busted seats. And all the control stuff. And there we are. Not loads but A little is better that Nowt. Off on my holidays in a day so nothing for a week. I’ll have to catch up with your wonderful builds won’t I. Hope you’re enjoying the build. Happy modelling. Johnny 19
81-er Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 Very nice work on that lot, Johnny, you've really got to grips with the chipping over rust. Have a good holiday James 1

The Spadgent Posted August 25, 2023 Author Posted August 25, 2023 One last pic before I go. I forgot to post the test I did with bushes. Might just work. 🤩🤩🤩 20

Trevor L Posted August 26, 2023 Posted August 26, 2023 It's all coming together very nicely. I've gone for the rust on top of the paint option, but I think I'll have a go at this chipping lark at some point in the future. After all, who doesn't like chips!? 1
Muchmirth Posted August 26, 2023 Posted August 26, 2023 Very nice bushes their to help set the the scene. The other parts look good now with paint and weathering done. Paul 1

I use a cheap can I got from Dealz. My chi ha being an extreme example. If you check the build thread. I painted it in various rust shades then clear varnish then a good coat of hairspray than the camo in acrylics and distress it back with a wet brush and or scraper. I also have a fibreglass brush which is good for heavy wear. Edited August 26, 2023 by Marklo 1 1

The Spadgent Posted September 13, 2023 Author Posted September 13, 2023 Hey Britmodellers it’s seems like forever since I sat at the bench to work on this build. Brighton came and went. Lovely place! 🌈 And even a little Entropy. Zero thought it was too hot. Typically like this time last year I found myself browsing model shops online and while a little tipsy made a purchase. oops! 🤩🙃 What with the hot weather and spending time tinkering with RC set ups for the new buggy and my other cars my spare time has not found it’s way to the bench unfortunately. I’m aware that time is running out so I need to pull my finger out. So now it’s cooler up in the cave I got back at it. In a bit of a limbo I decided to just start gluing things and moving forward. Soooo Steering wheel, gear sticks, seats, greeblies, wheels and bonnet on. the flat works well I think. The little Jerry cans are lose for now. And I decided to glue the filter can thing on the front too. I glued some of the moulded rocks in place with ca and pre shaded. Then added some base colours. This will need top coating before the static grass and bushes get added. A little dry fit to scope out where stuff will go. Looking forward to the water going in and all the drips and marks on the jeep that will bring along with it. Plus I can’t wait to knock that blasted gloss back. 😐 more soon. Johnny 17
