Retired Bob
With all the TSR.2 activity in this GB I felt compelled to get my unstarted kits out of the stash and think about getting them built. I have one each of the Airfix TSR.2 kits, an original issue, and the later Stratos 4 boxing, the same white plastic, just a few added items for the cartoon version and better decals in the later kit. As I only planned to make one of the original airframes built in it's white anti-flash finish, I only bought one set of most of CMK's resin upgrades, a single Master pitot tube and Eduard's p/e set for the cockpit. As Eduard produced a p/e fret for the CMK cockpit set that's a duplication of those parts. I managed to obtain another CMK undercarriage bay resin set on ebay, so the plan is to make one kit in the original white finish and the other as a 'what if' they entered service with the RAF in the late 60s, early 70s as tactical ground attack aircraft instead of the F-4 Phantom, I have a nice set of 17 Sqn decals from that period that are probably 50 years old so they need using. Here are the two kits and some of the AM that I will be using in their builds. I have re-read the excellent build by Bill @Navy Bird and will shamelessly copy his build techniques and hopefully get mine looking somewhere as good as his build is. Now, do I do the sensible thing and build one and learn from my mistakes building the other or just set up an assembly line and spread out the resin parts as I go?
81-er
Looks like a good pair of projects there, Bob I'll leave it up to you to decide on whether you do one or both, but you won't go wrong with Bill's thread as reference James
jackroadkill
Right, you lot, can you slow your progress down a bit, please? I've not done any co-hosting for a week or so due to my finger injury keeping me away from the bench and feeling sorry for myself, and when I go back there were far too many threads showing far too much progress for my liking; now, can you all please slow down to my rate of building, please, and stop making me look so unproductive!!
ModelingEdmontonian
@81-er--checking in to see if a Hawker Hurricane on floats would be eligible--I feel this is a significant enough modification that it fits the theme, but want to confirm your thoughts before beginning. Cheers.

That absolutely ticks the boxes James

SAAF Modeller
I'd like to join this GB with a 72nd Italeri RAH-66 if it isn't too late?

They're in, but there's a long way still to go until it's a home rather than a box storage facility. 5 hours ago, SAAF Modeller said: I'd like to join this GB with a 72nd Italeri RAH-66 if it isn't too late? As long as the GB has time left to run, it's never too late. Get a thread started, and get building James
Marklo
Discovered this on the interweb today the first SU 9 a soviet me262 copy that was started as a project in 1944 officially approved in 1945 and subsequently cancelled. Not promising anything but it’s definitely going on the list.. https://youtu.be/TJsxnGPXYFo?si=N5tTKOo7QFwb0QoI lots of cancelled soviet jets
-Neu-
I'm a bit late to the party, but I do have a few 1946 aircraft I want to build, starting with a Ryan Dark Shark. Got a bit of room?

JOCKNEY
Although I've got builds all over the place, a chance find tonight has given me an idea. This was a Blitzbuild that went horribly wrong some time ago due to attempting to dry paint off. Today I found an old Revell Me163 kit, so would it be allowable to transfer the good bits from the above build into a replacement body from the Revell kit in a new build thread ? Cheers Pat

Sounds fine to me, Pat, you've probably got 25% of undoing the old kit before you can retrieve the interior James 1

marvinneko
I should've done my Ki-78 build as part of this group build as I finished between late July and August. Oops! Can I put an image in the inspiration gallery? Edited September 4 by marvinneko

I found this Frog Shark kit which has the floats I would need to do a floaty Hurricane, but unfortunately I don't think I'll find the time to get it 'er done for this GB 😞 I'll have to look for another opportunity. Thanks anyway, @81-er 3

81-er
Well, we're into the last month of the GB now, and we have plenty of build threads and plenty of excellent models in the gallery Real life has calmed down enough that I've even managed to do a bit more on my build yesterday, and there'll be more today as well.
