Rb277170
I see on Facebook that X -Scale have shown artwork for their forthcoming Trident 1 . I believe this is a new kit . Anyone know anything about it? The artwork shows a Trident 1 in BEA Speedjack livery . I’ve just taken delivery of an X-Scale DC8 -32 in Swissair Livery . Looks ok as a kit . halcyonjet
It is the same kit that was fairly recently released by Eastern Express (of Russia) but tooled in Ukraine. The DC-8 was to have been the same, but for obvious reasons didn't make it back over the border. I have an EE Trident 1 kit waiting to be started, and it looks great (especially compared to the Airfix kit) Dave
Skodadriver
This has been knocking about in the Rumourmonger since late last year. My only slight regret is that they have gone for the 1C which duplicates the Airfix kit. A 1E would have been nice.... Dave G

I’ll keep an eye on it and if it’s affordable will pick one up for the retirement stash ! Tridents always a favourite from my spotting days down at Glasgow! 26Decals
I have almost finished building the Eastern Express release of it and it does look a lot better than the very old Airfix kit:
modelldoc
There is another (old) opportunity for a Trident. The east german company Plasticart made a Trident, now the mold is here on sale: https://www.reifra.de/online-shop/spielwaren-aus-eigener-herstellung/modellbau/bausaetze-fuer-flugzeugmodelle/67/flugzeugmodell-trident-2e?c=39 The russian company REVARO made some decals: http://revaro.su/decals/decals-1-100-scale/1100-trident See my kit here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/21603181@N08/24517067154/in/dateposted/ modelldoc

David H
The latest and greatest i heard from Ruslan Shilov is they're offering multiple markings options for their first Trident release and they've been nailing down the correct colours of cheat line for the original, slightly-less-old, and the final "Speedjack" paint schemes. -d- Edited September 16, 2023 by David H

The Decals (registration) in the kit belong to a Trident 3B I am trying to convert the kit to a Trident 3B since 2021...hard work, but I think a 1:87 scale Trident 3B with some suitable vehicles will make a really nice diorama! The aircrafts nose has now been reshaped, but there is no photo of it yet.. Edited September 18, 2023 by Smallscaler

That makes it a compelling project--all those Wiking and ROCO vehicles would go well with it. You could even repurpose the ample railroad equipment. I presume you've carefully measured out the scale on this one? If so, then all you need is a new nose and better landing gear to make this a real winner. modelldoc
I'm not sure, scalemates say 1:100: https://www.scalemates.com/kits/veb-plasticart-32-trident--634419 and reifra, whre you can buy it says also 1:100 https://www.reifra.de/online-shop/spielwaren-aus-eigener-herstellung/modellbau/bausaetze-fuer-flugzeugmodelle/67/flugzeugmodell-trident-2e and the old box say the same: https://www.scalemates.com/kits/veb-plasticart-32-trident--969320 modelldoc
Smallscaler
Just measure it out... 😉 I did, because on first sight I thought it's much too big for a Trident compared to other/real 1:100 Airliners. There are more "1:100" plasticart-kits in 1:87 (some Helicopter, I forgot the exact type now) Otherwise the Il-62 is way too short and it's fuselage diameter is ~1:118. But this model -despite representing just a prototype- ist wrong in nearly all dimensions, even the wings sweep ist too low..I started to correct this kit too, but that is really hard! (A prototype Il-62 is not shorter than later serial aircraft) And Scalemates...sometimes it's as good as Wikipedia... 🙄 They say what's written on the boxes, even Reifra does it. I wrote them (Reifra) about the faults (wrong scale, wrong type designation, wrong registration) with this special kit but they don't care... I think "1:100" just sells better and always did! 🤷 Edited September 20, 2023 by Smallscaler

modelldoc
The helicopter is the Mil Mi-6 Hook Offered in 1:100 but in real 1:85, you can se this here: https://www.scalemates.com/kits/veb-plasticart-mi-6--357149 modelldoc

Ok, against my better judgement, I almost want to buy one now. How is the plastic on the reissues by Reifra as compared to the brittle plastic of Plasticart? I remember seeing these kits at the Squadron Shop back in the 80's and being really tempted to buy them, but I desisted, because they were Eastern Bloc and iffy. Smallscaler
The plastic used by Reifra ist very smooth and it's nice and easy to work with for scratchbuilding and conversions... 👌 Edited September 21, 2023 by Smallscaler
Jure Miljevic
Hello, I have both Trident and Mi-6 Plasticard kits, and while the former is in 1/87(ish) scale, the latter is so large it could easily pass as 1/72 kit. I think it is actually in 1/75 scale, My Mi-6 also came with fuselage half in different colours, but for Plasticard kits this is hardly out of ordinary. Will measure both kits in the evening when I return home. Cheers Jure

Jure Miljevic
Hello, I checked my Trident and Mi-6 kits. As Smallscaller said Trident is in about 1/87 scale but only for short span 1C version. Scale of the Mi-6 kit's fuselage is slightly less than 1/74, but the kit's rotor has way too small diameter and is in 1/87,5 scale. Pity that passenger version of Mi-6 with large panoramic windows never existed. Cheers Jure

The former 3 are pretty dreadful, but the 10K appears to be slightly more recent than the others. I'll have to get myself a DC-8 one day... and one of those Comets with lovely purple/mauve-yellow BOAC decals... @Smallscaler - your Trident looks great, I have a fleamarket wreck somewhere that I bought as a kid (that box also included a Comet) - must be 40 years now...
modelldoc
You are right, the Mi-10K NATO - Code Harke) is the best helicopter from Plasricart: https://www.flickr.com/photos/21603181@N08/6395188469/in/dateposted/ The funny thing is, that the model show us the markings from the Le Bourget Aerosalon. The bad thing is the instruction, a nightmare, especially for the landing gear. modelldoc
eng
Received my Trident today and I have to admit it looks incredible, nice crisp mouldings with plenty detail for 1/144. A stunning set of full colour instructions in an A5 booklet with very clear easy to follow steps and outstanding decal/marking schemes. And to top it off some very, very nice little decal sheets that are super sharp.... oh and masks for the wheels, cockpit windows and the curved black area around the nose. A very impressive package all round. Eng 4
Skodadriver
Hope you don’t mind me asking @eng but where did you get it and how much was it? Hannants still have it showing as a future release. Dave G
