MiniArt 1/24 LANZ D8506 Tractor

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I was very much inspired by a recent build here, only last week I think. I'd built a 1/35 Lanz before and loved it, when I saw MiniArt had released these tractors in 1/24 scale I just had to have one. Like now!

It turned out to be a quick build of a great kit, of a lovely subject.

When I say great kit I mean it, this is right up there with the best I've built. Lovely detail and engineering, the only gripe being the moulded on "Lanz bulldog" embled on the front, however it didn't turn out to be a big issue when painting. But, a separate part or even some PE would have been nice.

If you always wanted to have a go at a MiniArt kit, but were hesitant because of the fiddliness in the smaller scale, these new tractor kits are the way to go. I certainly hope MiniArt start releasing more vehicles in this scale!

It has become a clean build, inspired by a Youtube video for colours. The only mishap was when applying the LANZ decals on the side drums, I put the first one on (badly, yes) and it was stuck immediately. Wouldn't move for nothing. So I decided to take my loss and match the other one, it is what it is. Paint is Tamiya XF-11 (green) and XF-7 (red). Vallejo paint for tyres and some detailing.

That's just outstanding! :clap2:

Of course it needs the others from MiniArt plus Revell's Porsche Junior. Just sayin...

That's a lovely build Jeroen, and how you can do such clean and smooth paintwork in a week is beyond me...!!

Cracking model tractor (Fergie looks great too! )

A really stunning build, as mentioned above you should build the others and the Porsche too, it would make a great set.

Can I ask how you painted the exhaust stack? its very effective.

Regards

Keith.

I'm not a tractor fan, but that's very nice.  It seems that Miniart kits are high quality!

@Bengalensis Asked the same thing over in WIP

I wanted to achieve an effect similar to the LANZ which was my inspiration for colour, as shown in the WIP. Well, I didn't get the result but what I wanted to depict was a relatively clean and new stack. I guess that sort of worked out.

I started with Vallejo Metal Colour steel, then dabbed Carbon Black and Burnt Umber pigments on it, with black paint as a binder. Finally I applied Tamiya weathering powders, rust and soot.

Looks fantastic Jerons, what a cracking looking model, I thought the first photo was the real thing, your tyre colour is spot on too, great work and love the pics with the Helja MF too.
