I'll admit right up front: The idea for this vignette is not mine. I got it from Night Shift, of YouTube fame. Thanks Night Shift! 🙂 In one of his videos he built a vignette showing an abandoned VW Beetle. It looked as such a fun build I just had to build something similar. The basis for my build is a Tamiyia 1966 VW Beetle 1300 kit.

Well, without further ado - here is my version.

Looks like a runner to me, some tall Fred Flintstone type, removed the doors and front seat so he could fit and doesn't need wheels or a floor panel as he'll use his feet. Just need a bird's nest in the engine bay. Lovely job.

Thanks a lot everyone!

@Slackbladder, the floor panels are actually still there. Actually, I made quite an effort to make them feasible looking, but that does of course not show. So Fred still has some work to do before he gets this old gal running. 😀

I love that! Lovely and ‘careworn’. Dad had a real one in that colour. Diamond Blue it was.

Marvelous.

I can't decide what I like more: the car or the environment around it

Brilliantly done, I particularly like how you've thined the roof and broke the front window surround, very realistic - Andy PS, IF I was you I would also post this in the civilian vehicle section

Very nicely done. :clap2:

I had one of those in that color ar uni. It was a good student car, cheap to run and easy to fix.

I wondered if you were going to show it with the back seat removed and the battery corroded through the floorpan. :rofl2:

Thanks @dnl42.
No back seat and the battery showing? That would haven been fun, and I actually considered not including the back seat. But unfortunatly this kit would have made that quite hard, so in the end I decided against it.

WOW!!!!! That’s amazing. Pretty much what I’m after for my entropy build. I doubt I’ll get even slightly close to this but I’ll keep this thread as a point of reference.

Thanks Johnny!

I’m sure your entropy build will be great. Why should it not? 😁

True that. I’ll give it my best shot. As long as we’re having fun right. 😇 BTW where did you get the foliage from? Or was it made by your good self?

Some of it I made myself while some was bought. I’m not at home right now and cannot check up the details. Will do when I can, and eventually come up with some kind of answer. 🙂

@The Spadgent, I have now had a look at the dio and this is was what I used for the vegetation:

- Static grass in different lengths (2, 6 and 12 mm). The grass is air brushed in different shades of buff, yellow and green.

- Some other kind of longer fibers I had lying around.

- Cut off paint brush strands.

- Ivy from Mini-Natur

- Natural Leaf Litter from Green Stuff World. Used both as is (blown down leaves) and glued to fiber strands and painted to resemble some unspecified greenery.

- Jungle Leaves from Ammo (MIG). I really wanted their fern but could not get hold of that.

- The moss is Woodland Scenics Green Blend turf. Painted with various washes.

Hope this helps,

Lennart
