Joining you with this kit. Bought at RAF Cosford on a visit in 2022.

The South African Air Force option is based at Gioia Del Colle in Southern Italy 1943.

The SAAF option also has 4*20mm cannons, something I'd never seen on a Spitfire - other than being loaded

onto an aircraft carrier, for a one-way ferry flight.  The USAAF option is African Desert, ruling that one out.

Parts, datestamped - and edited in later

but I'm quite surprised that this kit isn't related to any of my other Airfix Spitfire builds.

AND not related to the starter-kit Spitfire Vc, that arrived with such fanfare about the profiled stand, at around the same time.

Building is on hold until late August, to sync-up with an Airfix Hurricane IID, planned for Desert GB, which shares the same scheme.

Nice choice Tim

Always good to see a spitfire in desert camo.

While I'm not a Spitfire lover, I set that aside to welcome you along and look forward to seeing the end result! Good luck!

I've just edited in a photo of the parts for this kit.

Not quite the same construction as any other Airfix Spitfire that I've built,  it offers single part canopy for closed, or 3-piece for open.

And is looking good!

Well today's the day to start progressing.

Prepared cockpit bits.  A lot of detail in there, and interference fit parts to take great care over.

All sealed op ready to fit the wings.

And looking like a Spitfire.

Airbrushed XtraColor X160 Synthetic Haze earlier this morning.

Followed by fitting and masking the canopy.

Then Airbrushed Humbrol 234 Desert Sand, not really mustard enough, but we'll see.

I can see them here but not in the gallery.

It’s very nice though!

They've now shown up here and look good. They’ve also shown up in the gallery, maybe the hosting sight had issues ?

I think that was the case.  Thanks for staying with me.
