The biggest kit in my stash- VF-1S Strike Valkyrie

So some (okay, more likely most) of you are going, "what's a Strike Valkyrie?".  It's the main fighter from the 1984 anime Macross- Do You Remember Love?. This was based on the TV series that preceded it called Macross. Which in the west was bastardized into Robotech.

The VF-1 Valkyrie was the primary fighter of the UN Spacey. It could transform into three different forms: fighter, gerwalk (fighter with arms and legs) and battroid ( full bipedal mode). In the film, they did an upgraded version which had additional missile pods, engines and a big stonkin' gun mounted on it. Sort of like an F-35 in Beast mode versus the regular loadout.

Ok, after that lengthy intro here's the kit. Or rather the box it came in.

Note the 1/32 Lancaster on the left side.

I love the warning markings they printed on each corner of the box.

After some difficulty getting the box off, here's the inner sleeve.

There's two boxes inside that which are labelled upper...

The FAST packs. The bottle of Tamiya paint gives an idea of the size.

The twin barrel cannon that was shoulder mounted.

Here's a Hasegawa 1/48 to give an idea of what the plane will look like.

Go big then go for a ride in it I think! Magnificent and at least no one can spoil it by telling you it's the wrong shade of this or that.

That's the best part of it. Hasegawa does include a colour mix for the blue in their kit while this one has almost no paint instructions.

Here's the AM I'll be using. I decided with a plane this big I'd try to light it. I got some great help from Evans Design when I contacted them about what was needed.

The plan is to have the formation lights blink with the engines lit as well.

The other bit of AM are decals. The kit doesn't come with any. It does come with stickers though.

:yikes:

... arrr yes I know the theme was/is "Go large or go home"......but I think all the boxes of our builds would probably fit in that box....so even huge doesn't describe this one!!!

What a beast of a model and so super cool as well! I seriously doubt I could fit this on my work bench and heaven knows where it would go once finished....

But this is one serious build I have to followIt'll be super impressive when completed.

Good luck with the beast.

plus that's some serious paint collection you have as well, all the good stuff too I see as well!

Don't count on it, I once had someone freak out at a show because I had used the wrong colour yellow on an Aliens power loader.

Those are the moments when we can convince ourselves we're not the crazy ones.
