Dearest Brits and modellers,

Let me present the result of my leisure hours from mid 2021 until early 2023: HMS Rodney in 1/1200. For more details about the building proces please check https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235125214-hms-rodney-11200-the-progress/

For now, let the music play (some imperial pathos might be accurate at this occasion: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2c5QHtgFxY)

and the pictures speak (thanks to Felix Streuli for his great job presenting the model in the right light):

So tiny. You've done really well in this microscopic scale. Great workmanship.

How about  a photo with a Humbrol tin for proper understanding of scale?

Thanks! As I don't use Humbrol - do you mind a comparison "Downing Street 10"-style? 🤔

Please note: It says "short" on it. 😉

Gidday Leo, that's superb work. And crew figures, in 1/1200? They'd be about 1.5mm tall. It's a stunning model, extremely well done.

Regards, Jeff.

Stunning stuff in a microscope size scale think my my eye's would be bleeding trying to build in that scale.  :hypnotised:

looking forward to more of your builds just have to give my eye's a rest first.

'Love it. Small is beautiful and you don't seem to have compromised the detail at all.

Lovely job and great work on the water although i could have done without the cigar,i'm trying to give up smoking....

Please excuse my choice - I know: tabacco goods are so 20th century like... I guess a pink unicorn with a rainbow would be more timely. 😉 Although, as I know from hearsay their accountability is quite unreliable because these 21th century phenomena often suffer from identity crisis. However, a cigarr might also be not the right comparison as not everyone may identify with such upper class accessories. A blue collar lung-bread is for sure of more international currency:

(...nope - they ain't bigger in Switzerland.)

Thanks! However, as it took me more than a year to built it your eyes will have enough time to recover... The next project is the Titanic or the Yamato - both begun, not decided yet which I shall complete first... 🤔

...and before you relax your eyes: they have to focus a last time on probably the smallest MkII quadruple 0.5in and MkV octuple Pom-Pom AA-guns on earth:

Handrails?? Rigging?? Crew members?? 1200 scale??That is an unbelievable piece of model building. The ship is absolutely fantastic and the sea scene is brilliant. One of the best ship model that I've ever seen. Great work.

You know what that is?

...a dog - or one of these extremly aggressive Highland sheep - hunting a down man in 1/1200 on a paint tin.

Thanks John - and to everybody else: highly appreciate your kind compliments!

I didn't know that paint came in 200litre tins. 😁 And what about the crew's mascot hamster and canary? Seriously, they're incredible. Regards, Jeff.

Can't you see? They have just been eaten by the dog!

Wow!

I take it you wear eye binoculars when building that.

Incredible!

Thanks! However, I prefer to use a illuminated magnifier (https://www.conrad.ch/de/p/toolcraft-to-7447437-led-lupenleuchte-vergroesserungsfaktor-1-75-x-2-25-x-2482479.html) because I don't like to have something on my nose - makes me kind of aggressive, especially whan I have to be very focused and calm at the same time... ;)

(And yes, the mast astern is slightly bended: after the finish, I let the modell slip away - the mast was bended 90 degress to the side! 😵 I almost got an heart, shrieking, and screaming tantrum attack at once. However, somehow I did survive. The elastic Uschi rigging was still at it's place and with a lot of "Fingerspitzengefühl" (sorry, there is no precise English expression for that German word) it was possible to bend the mast back. OK, almost. However, since you mainly look at the modell from the side I didn't want to risk too much of rebending to the other side. I see it now as my sacrifice to the Gods of modellin: too much of perfection could only awaken their anger... ;))

I followed your WIP on this and still struggle to see how you can get that level of detail in a model so tiny.  It is first class modelling at its very best.  BZ.

Thank you! ...I think it was very important that I took so much time to finish it - more than a year! So, I was never too exhaustend and the process was as important as the result. Furthermore, that's why I do 1/1200: There is not so much competition so that you can still achieve some new standards. Just watch what some guys are able already at 1/700 - nothing to top anymore! However, you should never sent me into battle: I would still meditate about a perfect plan while the enemy would already be celebrating victory behind my back. ;)
