Many thanks for all the kind comments from @giemme, @perdu, @The Spadgent, @CedB, @81-er, @Hamden, @Biggles87 and @Navy Bird.

Adding decals is always a labourious task, and this one is no exception. I managed to get all the black stripes on and am progressing through the rest. So some progress shots showing that.........

This one in it's "safe" box

And a quick check to see if the wheels fit! Only clipped in for now.

Happy with that, so much so it was time for a beer!

Thanks. I'm glad you have enjoyed the build. Watch out for the follow on build (for the museum) which is currently planned to be a 1/72 B-17. More on that later.

Excellent progress Terry, you must be very pleased with this one.👍

Thank you Matt. Yes I am pleased with it, although some tense moments rioght to the end.........

So, where are we.

As ever at this stage of a build, I always seem to spot things that don't look right, so some fixing/paint touch ups were needed, always a bit tricky on NMF paint.

The area ahead of and just behind the tail wheel bay needed some attention.

IMG20250909091333

Ready for airbrishing touch up.........

IMG20250910111312

The rest of the decals went on OK, including stencils etc.

One moment of panic occured when I had placed the fuselage codes, in accordance with the aeromaster instructions, thus:

IMG20250910184747

According to the side view above, the Q and the CS are roughly in line and also central with the star and bar.

I had them nicely settled with micro set etc, and I then remembered the picture I had of Cisco which showed a very different arrangement!

IMG20250910192648

A panic application of lots of water, and I managed to dislodge the codes, and place them more in line with the picture.

IMG20250910213141

Much better. Next the port side:

IMG20250910213202

Removing the spomnge and masking putty from the cockpit proved to be a challenge, and took much effort with tweezers to properly dislodge.

Detritis shown here:

IMG20250912162836

This also caused me to have to remove the seat and repair some paint damage on that.

IMG20250912180119

And whilst the seat was out, I took a couple of last pictures into the cockpit to remind me what was in there!

IMG20250912180409

IMG20250912180359

Test fitting the canopy....

IMG20250912153448

And although she was yet to be finished, I took her to the South West show last weekend and displayed as was then

IMG20250914083550

IMG20250914083556

Then earlier this week, the weathering process started. For this I used AK's panel line washes and Tamiya weathering powders.

Always a tense moment!

IMG20250916144738

IMG20250916144758

IMG20250911155607

All wiped off well....

IMG20250916175220

IMG20250916175238

IMG20250916175257

Finally wheels and flaps on.......

IMG20250917165240

And then some oil dot weathering on the green nose, followed by an over coat of 50/50 semi gloss/semi matt varnish and then ....................... relax!

She's finally complete!

IMG20250918114109

A few quick pictures before I take some decent ones for the RFI, next week.

IMG20250918114115

Cisco is due to be delivered to Old Buckenham next Saturday, along with some other aircraft models being built by a few other folk. I'll update this WIP with some photo's from that event.

This has been a long but enjoyable build, and thanks to all who have helped me get here.

There will also be some pictures posted on the 359th FG Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/search/top?q=359th fighter group%2C 1943-1945

Thanks again for joining me in the build!.
