Whitewolf
Does anyone do a 1/48 set? Seen Eduard sets for Luftwaffe, but can't see any RAF sets? Thanks
Black Knight
RAF aeroplanes mostly used Dzus fastners. They look just like rivets on the surface of the metal. Perhaps scaled domed rivets would do your job?

Thanks The Luftwaffe had latches, which 'work' in photoetch, as @Black Knight says the RAF used Dzus fasteners You can use a beading tool, for jewellery, to make these in plastic. see https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234986216-148-airfix-new-tool-hurricane-mki-p3039-from-no229-squadron-completed-on-31-10-at-1150-pm/#elControls_2094476_menu you can buy them on ebay from China, they used to be about£5 but have gone up to about £10 last time I looked. If you know they size you can use metal tubing as well, just the beading too has a series of gradually increasing sizes. HTH

Sheet AR88002 supplied different styles of Dsuz fasteners in 1/32 and 1/48: https://www.scalemates.com/de/kits/archer-ar88002-us-and-british-dzus-fasteners-and-small-rivet-heads--221208 All other Sheets with Dsuz fasteners were either in 1/32 or 1/24. *Archer closed shop last year. One may get them via 2nd hand market or Shops having some remaining stock. Cheers Markus
Troy Smith
3 hours ago, Whitewolf said: Surprised archer don't do a set. They are not raised like rivets, but two circles, with a slot screw in the centre, in a smaller scale the beading tool will give a good effect, as is shown in the linked build thread. untouched since 1943 Hurricane in Finland from https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235099841-hawker-hurricane-mkia/ Fantastic walkround, but there in no Hurricane Ia.... I have got dimensions somewhere....

Tigerausfb
Technically Grainers tool but they are to make beads or ball patterns on jewelry so suspect that's why they have a dual name. The patent on these fasteners dates back to 1925 to a Victor Hagger, with it being assigned to Fairey. Clearly, no model can be 100% complete without the patent number being on the fastener. This particular one I photographed on a Sea Hurricane. Edited April 2, 2023 by Tigerausfb

Tigerausfb
Actually doubly useful as you can punch out tiny domed rivets with them as well as making impressions in plastic. Andrew
