corsaircorp
Hello Everybody !! Here I am again, with a Mustang.... And once again in Asia.... Sooo 23 Fighter group in the summer of 1944... What was appealing to me is the similarities with the Mustand featured in the the movie "Empire of the sun" I really like this movie and it is also a tiny tribute to Ray Hannah.... Let me introduce you to "Barfly" 118 Tac Recce... Huh wait ?? Recce with bombs ?? Yes Sir, once you find them, clean up the place.... Colonial way to work supposedly... Flown at the time being by Major Marvin Lubner, Sqdn C.O and an ace with 6 kills... seen here in an early Mustang... A pic of the real things ?? Here we are... Outside pics since rain on vacation... for some hours... I hope.... The internals have been improved with the optionnal parts from my Eduard kits Bombs are from the Airfix Mustang kit.... Decals are from Errormaster 48-430 and painted with AK extreme metal.... And look 'Ma.... No stripes on this one Weathering is restrained given the pics I saw from the time being.... Maintenance conditions were arsh to say the least.... Do not worry for the mud on the bombs, it was stockpiled outside ... Well, it is now up to you all to comment now !! And don't forget, comments are welcomed, banters are mandatory... On my way now for the family pics.... Sincerely. CC 29
2996 Victor
That's a beauty, CC, great finish on the NMF and the restrained weathering - less is definitely more in my opinion! I love the mud-spattered bombs and the dirt in the tyre treads, great observation. Cheers, Mark
Zigomar
Great Pony from CBI, and yes that "Empire of the Sun" was a great movie! Cheers.
corsaircorp
Hello again... For the one interested in my Pony Frankenstang factory, here's the link... Family pic did I say ?? Let's restart the debate about a pack, a bunch or a herd... what do we have on here ?? 3 MTO, 2 ETO, 2 CBI and a Korean war one..... Mmmmmh the next one will be another Korean war or another MTO pony... Damn it !! the table is no long enough for the pic I wanted to do.... Okaaaay !! I hope that you still enjoy my lunacies.... I still have 3 Hurricanes to be finished.... I think that will be the next ones.... Huh No, not at all, next RFI will be a Tempest.... And a first for me in my present modeller life.... Sincerely. But doing this in scale will not be easy nor realistic... And then.... That was the time.... 10 minutes ago, Zigomar said: Great Pony from CBI, and yes that "Empire of the Sun" was a great movie! You're right - that would be difficult to make convincing in model form - I think you've hit the right note on "Barfly". Cheers, Mark

Being from Texas and having more than a few horses myself, a group of Mustangs, regardless if they are machines or animals, have to be a herd. (Although, some old timers will describe some groups of wild Mustangs as either a band, harem or mob based upon the ratio of females to males. You know just to add fuel to the fire of labeling.) Pack of wolves, bunch of carrots, herd of horses. Now for the herd you have shown here, they are all so well done and finished. Just showcases the various and different liveries the P-51 showed in its stables. (See the continuation of the horse theme.) Wonderfully done. And now, I must go and feed a few Mustangs that think the new Spring grass has not grown thick enough for their sustenance. 2

Winded Penguin
Lovely herd of Mustangs. Shouldn't they be on a grass strip though? You might not seem too sure you have a pic of the real things, but your model is real nice
