Fuerza Aerea Argentina's Mirage 2000C (Monogram 1:48)

Recommended Posts

This Mirage 2000 I-012serves in Grupo 8 de Caza of the Fuerza Aérea Argentina. The aircraft wears the test camouflage used on the IRL Mirage IIIEA I-003.  What if from the Monogram 1986 kit with Condor Decals decals.

You don't see many of these built. Mustn't have been a very good seller for Monogram.

Revell also reboxed it, that is how I got mine.

has got raised lines, and not a very respresentative load out.

The ESCI/ Italeri kit is  an easier to build, but represents a prototype only.

The Heller kit, although also not exactly bristling with detail is said to be more accurate. --> way to go IMHO

and nowadays there is the highly detailed Kinetic kit (also with some problems...)

If the ESCI kit is similar to their MIIIEs, then the fit of the wing and fuselage must be horrendous. The landing gear must also have those shallow contact points on which to glue them. The Monogram kit originally came in 1982, when the M2000 flew as a prototype. This is the 1986 rebox, which inherits the prototype's lack of refuelling probe.

That kit was actually the one I wanted to get. But it had to be bought from abroad, and with all the taxes that piled upong the kit+shipping, it just seemed better to get the Monogram kit.

The Italer kit is actually quite nice. Fit is good, panel lines are recesses.

But be careful, the radom has panel lines from the prototype that need filling/ replacing. AND: the early versions of the kit also have the original high fin.....

AND all of them haf a slightly off wing shape, the leading edge angle is too steep, / taken over from the Mirage III, which is wrong. :(

I did one e.g. here:
