Airfix 1/72 Canadair Sabre Mk. 4

   This kit quite literally fell together. I was very impressed with how easily it went together and how nice it looks when finished. My only problems in the construction were being old and fumble fingered. I kept dropping parts on the floor. I lost the ejection seat and replaced it with the seat from the Heller Sabre kit. Of course, as I was finishing the kit and gluing the gear doors on I dropped them on the floor repeatedly and while searching for them I managed to finally find my missing seat.

  It is brush painted with Hataka, Vallejo and Xtracrylic paints with the kit decals, which had way too many stencils for me. I'll really be in for it when I build my Airfix Phantoms and Buccaneers.

Nice build! And especially so, brush painted!

If you're an old fart like me, the fumble fingers and dropping parts seem to be SOP now. A new tool has appeared on my build table, a flashlight to look for dropped parts!

Only complaints is that's a Sabre F4 not a 6 (don't worry decals are right for a 4) and for future ref the cockpit should be black, otherwise a super build

I corrected the title, I don't know why I have Mk.6 stuck in my head. As for the cockpit, I had wondered about whether it should be black but the instructions called for Humbrol 140 Gull Grey, so I used that under the assumption that surely a British company would have the correct color for a British plane. 😁

Airfix got it wrong, none of the aircraft in anyway of the boxings should have grey pits, became a feature on late production of the US made sabres, Canadian produced ones stayed black as I think the Aussie made ones did, we didn’t make any
