A wee update.

Wings and empennage fitted.

A smear of filler required here and there but otherwise not too bad.

I'm waiting for the Brownings to arrive and then should be able to get on with the glasswork as I'll need to drill a couple of holes in the front for them.

Thanks for looking,

Cheers,

Alistair

Wee? It's much bigger!

Aren't you going to run out of display space at the rate you're building Alistair?

Looks very good!

Thanks Charlie,

It's getting very close.

I may need to order up some more shelves for the cabinets.

Dear Al

I have noticed on a few Airfix Beaufort builds that there is quite a gap between the fuselage and the nose glazing that could be fixed by putting in a plastic card shim before commiting to glueing the see through bits in place.

Thanks very much for the info.

As I'm still waiting for the brownings to arrive. Ordered yesterday before 12:30 along with some other stuff for next day delivery and it hasn't even shipped yet which means it'll be at least Thursday before it arrives and I'm back at work then.

Less than happy about that, but i decided that I should get on with bits and bobs to keep things moving.

The bay doors are just in as a mask for the moment.

Some of the glazing masked and glued in place.

And a start on the engines.

Coming on very well Alistair,  shame the Brownings didn't show up yet, but  will be worth the wait,  I'm sure.   Looking very nice indeed.  Great work fella.

Chris

Thanks Chris,

I figured that they would be here by tomorrow at the latest and I can't do much more on the fuselage until I get the holes drilled for them.

I'll just need to occupy myself with the other bits. :D

It`s that waiting part that can be annoying Alistair but you doing a great job.

Simon.

Thanks Simon,

I've been doing some digging and might be able to move a bit forward as I think the nose guns were Vickers.

There are two of those with the kit so I may be able to move forward.

Alistair

Alistair,

Shame about the Brownings but coming together nicely. Those cockpit greeblies are definitely worth it!

I wasn't planning anything else tonight but as I'm hopping about like a cat on a hot tin roof whilst listening to the game at Hampden Park.

The engines are together.

What a faff that was trying to line everything up to get the exhausts in the right position but based on a dry fit I've got it.

Thanks Roger,

Do you know if the nose guns were Vickers or Brownings. Asking for a friend you understand.

Very late to this one, but it's looking great so far! All that interior gubbins looks sharp. Love the scheme. Wassis about brownings? The 1A needs the alternative turret right, but there are 303s required but not included? Purely academic interest of course...

Thanks Andy,

For the Mk.1a the alternative turret is used (all the instructions for that are in @Dunny's superlative thread here https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235120960-172-bristol-beaufort-mkia-no2-torpedo-training-unit-finished/ )

The armament for the new turret needs to be Browning .303's but only Vickers are included in the kit.

Some Mk.1a's had nose guns fitted through the front of the greenhouse and I've been trying to pin down which type.

The new ICM kit has Vickers in that position

Various other places state Browning .303's and the worst suggestion came from Key Model World which stated Browning .50 Cal's which I think would have ripped the airframe apart. :D

I am awaiting some resin brownings in the post so I can get on with it.

Cheers,

Alistair

These chaps have finally arrived,

4owKPEY.jpg

As a result I've got the masking on the rest of the canopy done.

tvu1xzp.jpg

With some carefully and lightly filed dents for the barrels to poke out.

Eu6Vjlz.jpg

xM27TKU.jpg

The plan being get the top part glued on and solid then fit the Brownings, nip the barrels off then fit the last front piece.

That way I won't be breaking the fiddly sticky out bits and they can be glued back in at the end with the join hidden by the canopy framing.

There may be more later but I'm off out for a Wonderland run as a friend is back from Marmaris and they are going to take some stuff back for my nephew.

Of course I may be tempted by something myself.

Thanks for looking,

Cheers,

Alistair
