Shimmer in the haze of summer lawns - Airfix 1/72 Bristol Beaufort Mk. I

Recommended Posts

This one has been bubbling around the top of the build pile for a while and is finally getting it's place in the sun.

I'm going to attempt to make this into a M.Ia.

Checking through the spares box I thought I had some Browning .303's I could use but it turns out they were 50 cal's so i'll need to order some up but will be going for this scheme.

I'll need to scratch some tropical filters as well.

I mean EDSG, Dark Slate Grey over Azure Blue, what's not too like.

Plastic will be butchered after I finish the Night Shift on Wednesday.

Thanks for looking,

Cheers,

Alistair

You are very welcome to grab a comfy seat.

I was lucky enough to see Fish Era Marillion a few times and was at the last gig in Craigtoun Country Park by St. Andrews when I was working in Leuchars.

You have numerous projects on the go CC. I would never have noticed.

I adore Colourcoats Azure Blue so this was a no brainer.

Alistair

Ah Alistair, a Marillion fan, I saw them at Castle Donnington, supporting ZZ Top.

Love the "Fish " era.

Simon.

Yes, I first saw them in the Chambers Street Students Union in Edinburgh in April 1982

A mate of mine dragged me along as he told me I'd like them as they were like Gabriel era Genesis.

They were practically unknown at that point and then "Market Square Heroes" was released in October and the rest as they say......

Alistair

A steady start there Alistair.

Goodies arriving?

Simon.

Thanks Simon,

Yes, a masking set for the clear parts, some nice resin weighted wheels and the Look IP.

Of course when I ordered that lot up I forgot to order the Browning .303's but I can get them later on as I won't need them until later.

Alistair,

A cracking start! Be interested to see what the AM IP looks like. I've messed up 2 from 3 attempts at the decal so should probably invest for any future builds! Enjoy your well-deserved 7 off,

Probably next week sometime it depends how I get on.

I will need then before the glasswork is done.

The kit is really nice so far. Everything just fits.

Thanks Roger,

I remembered your issues with the decal and as I was ordering a fresh decal sheet for the Phantom, after a bit of a disaster with one when I dropped the thing, I thought why not.

It should make things a little easier and it comes with belts as well.

So, win win.

Alistair

The Look IP is a direct replacement for the kit on and fits in really nicely.

Of course Mr. dive in and get stuff painted here neglected to think that bits would need to be sanded off for the Kitsworld decals.

Consequently out came the scalpel and skinny stick and various bumpy bits were flattened and as I was having to respray cut all the bits off the Sprue that would need to be Interior Grey Green.

Paint was sprayed.....again.

Nice bits Alistair Fnar.

She should great with that lot added, especially with the amount of glazing around the office.

Stay safe.

Simon.

Thanks Simon,

I have no idea how much will be visible but as you say it's a big old greenhouse.

Cheers,

Alistair
