Natter
Hello All, here is the Xtrakit Spitfire Mk.22 using the kit decals for the '1951 Daily Express Trophy Race'. The kit offers several sets of numbers that the aircraft wore at different times in the race, and I went with the '2' on the tail for a bit of extra colour. In the photos on the internet the spinner looks painted and not polished, so apologies if you can't forgive my artistic licence. The original airframe appeared painted rather then polished metal in the photos, so I went with Vallejo Metal Color Aluminium. The kit is in the short-run style with no alignment pins, but a really good fit overall. I have only used a tiny smear of filler in a couple of places, and I probably wouldn't have needed that if I had been more careful. Cockpit detail is fine for this scale and I have only added a set of seat belts. As the aircraft was used in the race it seems to have been kept really clean, at least for the duration of the race itself, so there's no weathering to speak of on the model. 45

georgeusa
You don't often see a Spitfire in a shiny, silver finish. It gives it a completely different look. Thanks for sharing this.
Meatbox8
Beautiful. A great finish. It could easily pass as 1/48th. I have this kit in the stash so I'm glad to hear it goes together well. It's pretty cheap which is good as I'm planning to get a couple more to convert to Seafires.
