My entire is this fantastic looking kit, the box isn’t massive but it’s packed with not one but two kits.

my plan is to build the transport in this GB and build the load in the Desert GB later in the year.

the plan is to set the scene somewhere in North Africa prior to the second battle of El Alamein.

the instructional video is great reference  material fully understand how the loaded a tank in 1942.

The Scammell Pioneer is my favourite truck, the tank transporter tractor unit, the artillery tractor and the recovery vehicle are all amazing. This is one build I will be following with interest.

thanks Dave,

I’m never done such a large wheeled vehicle, so looking forward to the challenge. I’m really pleased with the kit as it’s exactly comprehensive the only things I need to dig out my spares box are a few D shackles.

This looks like a heap of fun. Lots of bits in that box to keep you busy.

Brings back memories of the old Airfix kit.  This one will be much more impressive though and I like your plan to link through to the Desert GB too

thanks Colin,

Both kits definitely fill the box to the brim, enough to keep me out of mischief for a few months.

I remember the kit well Cliff, I never had anything to go on the back of mine. With the two group builds, with one finishing and the other starting I thought it was the sensible to build both bits.

the Grant has working suspension which will allow me to have it coming up onto to flat part of the trailer.

And we’re up and running, got to say the kit goes together like a dream. This was 2 hours at the bench and with a mixture of plastic and etch.

Good start! I've built the small Airfix kit, that was a fun build, I love the Scammell. I've always had my eye on this kit after that, so I'm following with interest.

And you don't even have to be a geek 🤓

Did that sound convincing?

Thanks Threadbear,

Sounds like you've got the lot. so far so good, there are a few injection marks but apart from that I can't fault the kit and the above pictures are 2 hours at the bench.

Thanks JeroenS,

its a great kit and the box is packed well worth a punt, its nicely detailed and well thought out moulding.

Thanks Bigfoot,

hopefully not to ambitious, the kit is nicely detailed, there are areas where the plastic is thin but is probably to the correct scale.

wheels done, a couple of hours well spent last night at my local club.

the wheels were all multi part with the choice of 2 tread pattern with a move of central piece.

Nice looking wheels. I'll take these over any type of rubber wheels.

Cheers Bobby,

the trailer looks the less fiddly of the two.

Jeroen I’ve got to agree. These tyres are really well detailed and being part moulded allows that detail to flow with no flash or injection marks on the outside.

the best thing about owning a model shop is you can build while your at work, with inclement weather in Salisbury today I got a bit more done on the trailer.

the suspension is really well engineered and fits nicely and all moves. The rear elements aren’t glued down yet, coming along nicely and steadily.

Got a bit of etch today, the fit is really good and each length was recessed to guide cross section supports.

it’s starting to get quiet large.

That will take a fair bit of paint 🙂

thanks Trevor,

With the recesses on the etch the fitting wasn’t as difficult as it could have been.

it certainly is JeroenS,

there are just a few more bits to pop on and it’ll be ready for a coat or two.

got the engine built over the weekend, it’s nicely detailed with some etch and fine piping. I’ve added the figure to show the size. It’s not as big as a Beatle, my next dilemma is the correct colour to paint the engine, would they have been light blue or black?

I think it's the "eggshell" blue, it was mentioned in @robw_uk's build.

brilliant, thanks JeroenS.

great thread and I think I’m going blue, I was talking to someone today who said the early war years the engines were light blue with the later war being black.
