Lex77
Hi, Completely missed this GB and after seeing another Hasegawa 1/200 kit being build i went through the stash and found this one. The kit; And the decals I will be using (not sure which version I'm going to do); Edited July 7 by Lex77
CliffB
A great choice Lex, especially as the DC-9 is the best looking jetliner ever (IMHO ). As I'm sure you'll know, the Hasegawa kit is has a -40 fuselage length so will need cutting down for the C9-B. Enjoy!

Cramped, uncomfortable and very painful thanks to the pressurisation on descent. Never had that trouble on the 727, 737 nor any of the larger ‘liners. Ehh no didn't notice that before! Will have to cut this one a little shorter then.
bianfuxia
I've built this kit as the SAS version - such a great little kit. I really wanted to find a B717 in 1/200 ad had the resin kit in my cart but by the time I came back to commit it'd sold out and been discontinued. So I've been half thinking of converting my SAS model into a 717...but I think it's too hard! Looking forward to seeing what you can do with this and with the Draw decals.
Lex77
Thanks! Cliff pointed out that the fuselage lenght was for a 40 series DC-9 so it needed some cutting. Started today on one part this afternoon to see how it would go.

TBH I thought this was ok for a -30 but got confused with the 1:144 kit.

Cheers Pat Hi Pat, yes it needs nose weight. It is provided in the box. If you look at the picture of the parts in the bag you can see it on the right hand side just below the kit decals. That is the cockpit back wall + a weight.

Lex77
After some more filling I primed the C-9 and found some more places which needed attention so some more filling. After the primer before the filling;

Lex77
Got a first coat of paint on it. The decal say that the grey C-9 version is painted all grey in FS16640. While looking through some pictures it sure seems that there are 2 different grey colors used on them so will have to find out which 2 are used. Painted in FS36440;
Lex77
The answer to my question about the 2 different grey colours was in the picture above! Due to the line in the fuselage it looks like 2 different colours but it is just one. Masked some metallic parts and sprayed some paint on it. And some clear paint on it.
Lex77
Have done decalling, the decals were hard to work with, especially when they had to have a bend in them. Done decalling now. Decal broke off when placing; Repaired with the decal from the second option; On to the landing gear.
