For the straight lines I just do the first one by eye, then I cut several pieces of tape the same length for the spacing to the next line, then put them next to your first lines and run the tape around the end of these pieces to give you the second line.

What a brilliantly simple idea, thank you for that. If these stripes don’t come out too well, I may have another go using that technique. I’ll just have to cut the tape to Airfix’s 6.4 mm lengths (the stripe widths).

 

The really good news though, is I might have the time to do that, as I thought the GB finished at the end of this week, but it’s actually still a month away 🤦🏻‍♂️ 😄

Oh they've extended the deadline, I didn't notice that. 2nd July it is then. I  might be able to get mine ready for paint at least.

Not sure if it’s been extended or whether I just confused the date with the Draken STGB that I was also supposed to be in 🤦🏻‍♂️

If you read the chat thread it's been extended, it was the 18th June I believe.

Thanks @Tbolt, I’d missed that. I just assumed I’d confused dates with the Draken GB.

 

Anyway, as it’s now just two weeks to the end of the GB, it’s time for some colour.

 

 

The exhausts need a bit more weathering, but I’m quite happy with the look. Maybe a touch more Tamiya Smoke to be added??

 

 

and then the dreaded unveiling of the invasion stripes

Now that we really are getting close to the end, it’s time for some decals.  Following my usual policy of doing all of the small fiddly ones first, I was doing well, just forgot to do the ones on the underside.  Good news is, before I can finish some of the ‘small and fiddly’, I need to do some of the ‘big and colourful’.

 

Here we are, just a couple before bedtime, so the Sol and Set get overnight to do their magic (hopefully)!

Right, into the final stages so on with a bit of wash to accentuate the panel lines.

🤦🏻‍♂️ Small problem, the wash has reacted with the Klear, but only on one wing 

 

 

 

Going to need a repaint!!  Might not make the closing deadline now 🙁

Repaint ended up as a little bit of a touch up (phew).  Managed to get the varnish on, masks removed from the transparencies, and a little touch of weathering completed this morning.  I now declare this complete. More pictures in the gallery, but here’s one for now:
