Thanks to Britmodeller for having us! We're a UK based aviation publisher (with a sprinkling of Polish).

For quite a few years, Simon Parry and Mark Postlethwaite have been building up a huge library of original WWII aviation photos, partly as a hobby but mainly to help provide photos for the books that they publish.  With over 30,000 now in the collection, they realised that they had more than enough to produce a series of photo books on individual aircraft types and sub-types.  They set out to make the series as ideally suited to modellers and artists as possible, so large photos, using A4 landscape format, and minimal text except for extended captions.  Effectively their aim is to produce a 21st Century version of the Profile Publications series of books from the 1960s, using the latest technology to reproduce their wartime photos to the highest standard possible.

This series is unique in that it is able to provide large format ORIGINAL photos up to full A4 landscape format width, which is at least 50% larger than any standard book can deliver.  Combined with the specialist knowledge of a team of historians and contributors, each book provides unbeatable and accurate references for any modelling project. All wartime photos, no 'Walkarounds' of heavily modified or restored museum exhibits.

Now up to volume 20, we'll be adding plenty of updates and features. The current Spitfire IX volume might have a passing interest to the Airfix 1/24th contingent.

Welcome

Great books and great research and time put into each one, will you be expanding the range to include period ground support equipment and vehicles that go along with the aircraft?

I ask this as the Aircraft are the main thing but without the support infrastructure you would not have flying aircraft?

:welcome: to the vendor area Ian. Good to see you figuring out how to work the knobs and dials

we’ve reviewed a couple of the books already, and they’re far from being “picture books”.  Lots of interesting stuff in the captions, and the size of the pics is impressive. :)

Thanks for the kind words Pete. There aren't plans for dedicated ground equipment books yet, but there is usually some support interest in the photos, with cranes, browsers and trolleys making appearances!

Welcome Ian, I received my parcel of your new books a few days ago, this brings my collection of WINGLEADER books to ten.  I'm very impressed with the the quality and the content of all these books and I will be adding more titles to my collection soon.

As I'm busy building Focke Wulf 190's on a group build on this forum I was wondering if you have any plans to bring out any titles on this historic aircraft?

Thanks Bob, glad you like the books so far. We're certainly planning more Luftwaffe titles, although the next volumes are all RAF, with Typhoon, Mustang and Anson. There is a good amount of Luftwaffe material in the archive though, so watch this space!

Great books, my first one was purchased during building my PCM fabric winged Hurricane and it was a revelation, better than my other reference books, it was so good that now I have eight books in the series and looking forward to more.

Cheers

Another fan here.  RAF or British?  I'm wondering if you'll be covering FAA Ansons.

Having talked to the author, regrettably no FAA Anson photos so far, sorry.

A few years ago, I had a site saved onto My Favourites list, that said it was by a Wingleader site and it had all kinds of RAF and RAAF/RNZAF aircraft.

It has now disappeared.  Any chance of that coming back!

Hello Chris, that could have been ww2images.com. Lots of pictures, but a clunky search function. It's being updated, and will hopefully be up and running before the summer. There's a better explanation here: https://www.wingleader.co.uk/ww2images-about-the-library
