Recommended Posts

Seems I left it too late to order so my kit won’t arrive tomorrow  so I posting a thread anyway. I think you can guess my subject based off the title, kits the 1/72 Italeri, been craving this one since the recent specials MegaGB.

Apologies for not starting, trying to get some builds done and was also waiting to aquire some good quality black paint, which I did before the weekend, some very nice mig ammo sating black, unfortunatly its has come out a (albeit very very very dark) brown so not suitable as if there was tint to the blackbird I think it was blue edit: here it is next to some ordinary artists black BE1-C9965-D874-4293-875-C-458-EAAF18728.

No start as redecoration has taken over and space was needed for existing builds storage so was stuck working on 1/2 small builds, now at maximum storage needed and with some efficiency usage now have room to start the SR71 though don't yet have the satin/gloss black paint, hopefully tommorow afternoon I will start C3996-D59-B048-437-B-9-C0-B-F7-AC7-DC51-

Not to worry, I can relate to being in that hole of trying to find the right colour! Will you be adding washes on top?

No, I don't mess around with weathering etc because I'm too lazy and cheap  I like a clean finish

Stop doing that and you'll have more time for working on kits ;)

This one looks to have gone together quickly Stu. Are the crew figures included in the kit?

No, as with most italeri kits they are sans figures, probably won't see much of them once the canopies on tbh

There's something about the silver and black scheme which looks much smarter than the usual overall black normally found on these machines :speak_cool:

cracked on with the underside, only partway through the process for the nose, but really concerned about the centre, don't know how I'm going to get the gear doors looking okay whilst keeping the ribbing, same problem the wing fuselage join

Cleanup went well, and the black is on, noticed a massive problem at this late stage though, my one should have the A-12 style small tailcone not the big one the kit has :( have to lice with it as I've not got the stomach to fix it at this late hour
