SAAB J35J Draken

 

Pretty much OOB except for some parts I had to print because I managed to lose them in the carpet. DOH! AK, Mig-Ammo, Tamiya, MRP and Model Mater paints

and of course Stock decals

These are updated images with the corrected paint job on the nose.

My Hasegawa RF-35 Draken of the Danish Air Force, built from a special boxing with these machines in a couple of festive/celebratory schemes, which I chose to ignore, preferring most aircraft in their service garb. Build thread here.

Hobby 2000 rebox of the Hasegawa kit

Count von Rosen, the last DK built in Finland, or should I say assembled here

It was assigned to HävLLv 11 in Lapland Air Command in Rovanniemi, on the Arctic Circle

The animal is the vicent, not just any bull

Two "lisäpalli" attached but no missiles - why, Hasegawa, why?

The Count can nowadays be seen at the Air Force Museum in Tikkakoski.

The tailenders, part 2

This on represents a fresh repaint on a second hand Swedish Filip

She carries the "Draken Knight" insignia, earned by pilots with certain number of DK stick hours

It is a two-tone scheme, believe it or not

A clean belly in this case

Thanks to decals silvering, the plane number can just be seen

Here's my finished Finnish Draken

 

Kit is Hasegawa and the scale is 1/72. Decals are a mix of Galdecal and couple other random sheets to get most of the decals I wanted or close enough correct decals. Plane in question is Finnish J35S Draken in march 1984, DK-215 - this is the same individual plane that later got painted in rather striking black and yellow farewell scheme in 2000. Quite faded paintjob apart from the tail section which has been recently replaced. Aftermarket parts include resin seat, Kuivalainen PE parts and Maestro pitot tube.

 

Painted with Vallejo acrylics and weathered with Flory washes and oil paints.
