Dan-Air DH Comet IV FF

Recommended Posts

First model post, and it's a rough one. But cut me some slack, I build for fun. The old Airfix Comet, which I started over 20 years ago, and left sitting on the bench, undecalled, ungeared, mostly unpainted, and unfinished. Couple of weeks ago I decided to just finish it. After all, not much to do, right? Riiiiight...

At the last second my urge to butcher it took over, and here you have the result. The decals were falling apart even after a few coats of clear, and the ones around the nose area are out of bounds for close inspection. Fortunately Tamiya Red XF-7 is a perfect match for the decal colour; problem partly solved. Fuselage was sawed apart, hinges and covers cobbled together from the junk bin, and the arrangement was copied in the style of the Canadair CL-44. Interior was hastily thrown together with scraps and such, and it's done. I will probably haul it back off the shelf soon and do some more touch-up on the paint, but I have this habitual failing of rushing the last few stages just to get things done. FF means 'FastFreight', and kept Dan-Air in business in my universe long after their 'real world' disestablishment.
