Hi Pat,

why do you persist in choosing easy kits to build?

Floats AND rigging, that is modelling 101. Shame on you for evading even the slightest difficulty!

Have fun.

I knew the continental drift would prove useful one day.

Today is the day!

No but it is in the pre-war grey that always causes a bit of a debate - RLM 02, RLM 63 or DKH L40/52!😆 More likely to be one of the last 2 I believe.

I used Colourcoats RLM 63 on my Do 17 build and found it a bit dark compared with B&W photos - Graham said it faded very quickly.

One or two companies do a version of Dr Kurt Herberts L40/52 but I seem to recall you normally use Humbrol paints - Jamie did do one in his range but I seem to remember he was selling it off as discontinued last time I looked. Some sources say it is close to RAF/FAA Sky Grey which IPMS Stockholm say is 3 x Hu 34 plus 2 x Hu 126 but in the end it is your kit so use what you like.

  • 2 weeks later...

I finally got round to looking at the kit last night.

First of all I notice it's been started slightly by the previous owner

16775836897823208567378856759475

And secondly the decals are part used

16775842615912777032195698207378

This is disappointing as I had hoped to build White 12. So I've popped a request in the wanted section here on BM but lots to do before the decals get a look in !

Cheers Pat

Hi Pat.

This may be more irritating than helpful, but I have one 'white 12' decal from your kit (10.5mm high).

Let me know if you'd like it.  I should also be able to provide crosses, swastikas and white discs if you need them.  Just let me know the sizes.

Cheers

Thank very much @CliffB

but @Jinxmanhas come to the rescue, when he gets back from enjoying himself in the sunshine :coolio:, meanwhile I'm working on my Contrail Horsley in the Salty Sea Dog GB, which seems determined to fight me the entire way  :fight:

I'm optimistic that despite the warning from @paul-mucyet on this particular kit everything fits perfectly :fingerscrossed:

Cheers Pat
