Baby's first P-47D: Little Chief

Hello everyone,

I'm happy to show you my first ever P-47, the Tamiya Razorback in 1:48. I'll be making a start on it today. Scheme chosen will be "Little Chief," just because it has the bomber escort option with the three underside fuel tanks. It's also the more colourful option than "Spirit of Atlantic City."

What a better place to start a propeller aircraft than on the cockpit, wingapars and propeller. Cockpit was painted Interior Green with black details. The prop was painted black with yellow tips and red propeller hub.

Wonderful kit. You'll enjoy building it.

Just by looking at it I want the bubbletop version.

I've got this kit in my stash.  I'm excited to see how it comes together.

It's coming together really well, only some scrapping needed on the seams to eliminate them.

Fuselage has been completed. The lighter area is where I passed my knife to remove the seam. Onto the wings now.

I took some time this weekend to paint and gloss the P-47. Next stage are the decals. I painted the white lines on the nose and empennage instead of using the kit decals.

Decals on. I used Mr. Mark Softer to make them melt into the panel lines. Some hours later, the model was matt coated and the landing gear struts and main fuel tank were glued.
