You've got one of my votes, but I still reckon we need an extension because of all the transfers we need to add, especially those who have mentioned about building two or more!

Ray

I know what you mean as it has taken me at least a week to apply the stencils to an Airfix kit.

Another kick up the patootie for this wee GB!

Show us some love, Vote #1 UK Phantoms!

And then join in and build some.

I'm glad this GB is getting the support it needs. I'm sorry that I am shirking the host mantle but I just don't have the 'feels' to do it. Many thanks to all those who have entered in to this and to Corsair fox four uncle in becoming captain of this GB.

I look forward in seeing all those lovely F.A.A. and R.A.F. Phantoms here. But I need to get myself a kit from somewhere to join in.

I'm glad you asked. KingKit has a goodly selection of eligible Rhinos on their website, from an ESCI F-4S (quite nice kits)  masquerading as a J(UK) (same airframe, different internals, but no-one will ever know. And it comes with 74 Sqn decals...) at £20 to a Hasegawa FG.1 at £70. And others from Airfix, Fujimi, Matchbox. And decals. And resin bits.

I've dealt with KingKit a number of times from Australia and they've given great service. There would seem to be something there for almost every budget.

Welcome aboard, @Paul J :D

As I mentioned elsewhere my plan for this GB is three in 1/72.

FG.1 in 43 Sqn markings with original camouflage scheme

FGR.2 in the grey air defence scheme.  Not sure what squadron but it will probably be a Germany based one.

F-4J(UK).  74 Sqn obviously, in the weird delivery scheme.

Interested to see how you do the yellow tinge scheme. I was going to do that but I think this GB clashes with others.

My plan is to use 36440 Light Gull Grey for the undersurfaces, 36173 Neutral Grey for the inner wing uppersurfaces and 36314 "Flint Grey" for the rest.   I will be trying these out on a paint dummy long before the GB starts, so there is plenty of time to tweak the formula.

Interesting discussion here.

As it stands I only have two planned for definite, one tbc raf as I’ve the kit in the stash, and a lufrwaffe one in the dark grey/drab scheme as I’ve had the decals for years. Also have another kit in the stash but that will be in the nam build of course I had two planned last time and didn’t even get one done due to a health crisis so I’d better not jinx it

Edit how the hell did I miss this was Spey phantom only? Have to move my luftwaffe one to the eighties GB

As @Paul J was the originator of the thread, only he can edit it.  Or me.   PM me with the changes and I can do them.   I will shortly be editing the titles of all the threads in the Future Group Builds forum to include the dates.

Oh I was just going to change/update the list so it’s not on page 4. I can make a list and I believe you can copy and Paste it to the original post.

Hey everyone … Bachmann will be re-releasing the Academy F-4J in both 1/72 & 1/48 as F-4J(U.K.) with correct decals.

That'd be about right, I've just ordered a decal set from Hannants to stick onto an Esci C/J.

You guys can thank me later.

:)

Edit: a couple of UK online shops seem to have it as a "coming soon" catalogue item.

Perfect for anyone needing a kit or wanting an F-4J(U.K.).

A plastic construction kit?  Reboxed from Academy.  This is very interesting indeed.  I am used to seeng Bachmann releasing ready to run railway models.  Sadly, usually overpriced but still excellent quality.    It's a new opportunity for them.

Railway is pretty much there bread and butter but I guess they dabble in other stuff to see if anything takes off and makes them $€£.

Why is the Academy 1:72 scale kit 20 GBP more expensive than the 1:48 kit 🙄

EDIT: Checked what's available at Hannants at the moment, and at which price: Academy 1:72 F-4J:s at ~25£ and 1:48 at ~40...45£. The Bachmann prices must be the wrong way around.

The Phantom is one of the Airfix Black Friday deals.

Be rude not to get one at that price, thanks for the heads up. Unfortunately this is timed alongside "Twins", where I have plans for a USAF F-4.

Are but you know what @Enzo the Magnificent would say.  Mind you it was impossible to resist, especially when I had an extra 20% discount code that worked.

I'd like to throw my hat in the ring, with an Airfix F-4 FAA markings. What else?

Excellent choice!      Air Defence scheme or camouflage?   If camouflage, Type D or tactical roundels?

Enquiring minds and all that...  :)

Edit:   Doh!   Should have read more carefully.   1989 means AD scheme.  :)
