I am sure that this is the normal state of the engine exhausts when shut down. I was a rigger on Phantoms (RAF St Athan, where engines are not normally fitted as it is a major unit), not an engine basher.

I can only recall that the engine exhausts were closed when on the ground, as in the photo that Jabba has linked.

The best exhausts to buy in 1/48th are from Reskit, set RSU48-111.  Be wary of Aires British Phantom exhausts, some early sets were too small in diameter.

Aires used the J-79 engine diameter measurement to make to make their Spey engine exhausts.

As of right now 26. A good number of members have responded to a query if they're still interested in joining the build.  

 

 

My query relates to wether this is a true single type or is it a standard group build. Because its so specialized in using only one type of aircraft operated by one country.

Technically, it's a standard GB because the F-4J(UK) is included which is a very different animal to the Spey-engined Phantoms.  However, I feel that the spirit is of an STGB.   Therefore I think it should proceed into The Bunfight.
