Recommended Posts

Various subassembles primered with mr  finishing surfacer 1500 primer . Wet sanded with Tamiya 1500 sanding sponge . For the metal i mixed a bottle of 50% Mr color super metallic super fine silver and 50% Tamiya LP-11 . Tail and underide  of the back wing section was sprayed with Tamiy XF-54 Dark sea grey . FOD covers an d crew ladder sprayed with Tamiya tape . I decided to use the Armory Resin wheels on the build. They cleaned up pretty easy. I clipped tht nose strut axel off and drilled them out . Wheels will be attached with a metal pin in the end .

Just catching up with the build. Nice work on the seats Brian. I have the same set with my Javelin kit so it’s good to have a heads up that they’re too small.

Its coming along very nicely.

Hi F104nut - I also bought the HPM seats for my Javelin and decided they were too small so detailed & installed the kit seats - what you have done merging them with the kit seats is very clever

Keep looking at the Mr Surfacer but have never used it.Is it airbrush ready or does it need thinning and if so, with what?

Not airbrush ready you have to thin it with mr color leveling thinner .

Spent a week getting the vertical and the tail wing painted. Sprayed first the Tamiya XF-54 Dark Sea Gray . Then  I used a 0.5 mechanical pencil to draw the demarcation line for the camo . Free handed sprayed the Tamiya XF-811 RAF Dark Grren . On the trailing edge there is a small composite looking peice that was masked ioff and sprayed with a mix of Tamiya TAn and Tamiya Kakhi . Armory wheels was primed with Mr finishing surfacer 1500 .Wheel hubs  sprayed with my metal mix and tired painted with mr colot tire black .

Lovely work. I’ll tag along if I may. Your paint finish looks very smooth and the cockpit is a treat. 👍I’m planing on building the perdiswell Javelin when I make mine.  I used to climb all over it back in the 80s.

Gunsight finally installed and last of the cockpit area done  Window frame arepainted with my own tamiya cockpit black mix .. Windshield glued on and masking next . Other ejection seat mating of the resin seat with the kit frame done. Triming and fitting was not near as perfect as the first one. But by the time the seat is painted and installed it really wont be noitcable .
