F-104 nut Posted March 5, 2023 Author Share Posted March 5, 2023 (edited) Various subassembles primered with mr finishing surfacer 1500 primer . Wet sanded with Tamiya 1500 sanding sponge . For the metal i mixed a bottle of 50% Mr color super metallic super fine silver and 50% Tamiya LP-11 . Tail and underide of the back wing section was sprayed with Tamiy XF-54 Dark sea grey . FOD covers an d crew ladder sprayed with Tamiya tape . I decided to use the Armory Resin wheels on the build. They cleaned up pretty easy. I clipped tht nose strut axel off and drilled them out . F-104 nut Posted March 11, 2023 Author Share Posted March 11, 2023 Spent a week getting the vertical and the tail wing painted. Sprayed first the Tamiya XF-54 Dark Sea Gray . Then I used a 0.5 mechanical pencil to draw the demarcation line for the camo . Free handed sprayed the Tamiya XF-811 RAF Dark Grren . On the trailing edge there is a small composite looking peice that was masked ioff and sprayed with a mix of Tamiya TAn and Tamiya Kakhi . F-104 nut Posted January 5 Author Share Posted January 5 Gunsight finally installed and last of the cockpit area done Window frame arepainted with my own tamiya cockpit black mix .. Windshield glued on and masking next . Other ejection seat mating of the resin seat with the kit frame done. Triming and fitting was not near as perfect as the first one. But by the time the seat is painted and installed it really wont be noitcable . F-104 nut Posted March 27 Author Share Posted March 27 Spent the last couple of days trying to figure the best way to mask the canopy off. Some airplanes can be a pain mask the cockpit off but after 4 attemps i was alble to get it how i likeed it. Started spraying the bottom with mr surfacer primer 1500. Found a couple of areas th at need some sanding then i, respray the bottom .
