After the P40, I decided to exit on my stach a kit I buyed recently : the Pilatus U-28A Draco

The U-28A is a military version of the PC12.
The USA have acquire some exemplairs of this aircraft for ISR missions

SOVA-M propose a short run kit of this plane
If the artbox is true, only 450 kit have been produce

In short kit, the major problem is the windows but on this plane hublots all porthole have been occulted

I started to degrap the fuselage and the wing to verify the fit of the main  parts.
I think the kit is for an experienced modeller.

Parts need some preparations and test fit.

The junction between half fuselage and wing/fuselage need a carrefull preparation and some amount of filler

The first step

Like all short run kit (and very short run kit like the U-28A) all parts need a carefull attention and a good preparation
Don't glue any parts before to test the fit.

For this kit, the wing need a good sanding.
The lower wings are too thick

I started to prepare the half fuselage

Now the junction between the two piece are acceptable

The canopy need a preparation too but. The front is too high or the fuselage too low as your choice :D

In a global view it is not so bad

After 15 days of hard work  I start to see some result
My filler tube start also to empty

All parts in the cockpit need of the filler. There are some mold hole defect

I started to paint the cockpit. If SOVA-M give you the name of the color, it didn't provide any reference in major paint maker.

I used the H308 for my part

The dashboard are in decals but it is ok the scale

I lost one stick and I had to make one

I reinforced the instrument panels with plastic card behind it

In the fuselage the cockpit fit properly

I glued the portholes with cyanocrilate glue but like all porthole except one are painted it is not a problem

The wing requiert some hard wark. Filler and sand paper is your best friends.
I added the winglet too

I finished with the propellers.
Propellers are not in the good position
I cutted all of them and put them back in good position

Next step : close the fuselage

I haven't encounter any problem to put the cockpit in the fuselage

I added a wejght (8 grammes)  in the nose after make a bulkhead to avoid the migration of the weight in the cockpit

I closed the fuselage.
I filled the gap between the two halve with  stretched plastic sprue

I closed the acces of the cockpit because it leads to emptiless

I closed the air intake too

Now I can added the wings who stay the last big work on the kit

Looking good now, not so good early on, a tribute to your skill & determination. I have thought to get the civil version to model an Airline in New Zealand that flies them, not so sure now, it would look good though.

Steve.

I think you should'nt be affraid
It need some preparation, test fit and a filler tube but like all short run kit

It has some advantage from other short run kit like photoetched part and the canopy mask

Even if I think I didn't built another one, it is an interessing kit for a plane who you didn't see frequently

Let me add a totally useless piece of information:

Scale in "Russian" (and mybe even Ukrainish) is "шкала" or in latin letters "shkala".

Whereas in German it is "Maßstab", the "ß" a sharp "s"  (c in cyrillic) and the "st" in most places of Germany today spoken "scht".

So in case you speak German and can read cyrillic, you know what "MACЩTAБ" means.
