1:25 1966 Batmobile from Polar Lights

A long time ago I picked up this kit and its been in my stash for years

So finally at the end of 2022 I got it out of the stash and built it!!! The most complex part of the build was the paint job and the red stripe decaling. The black paint is in fact Alclad gloss black base primer with a coat of Klear over the top. This was a better finish than anything else I could come up with!

Getting the red stripe decals to conform was an exercise in patience and LOTS of Micro Sol!!

But they went down eventually and the end result is very good I reckon

I had forgotten to post this before, even though I'd mentioned in my yearbook thread :D

ZAPP! POW! What a car. That looks spectacular.

When the show first aired in the UK, it was on Cub Scout night, a Thursday if memory is right. The pack collapsed as all of us stayed in to watch Batman. Akela was not impressed.

Excellent work sir… I want one of these too. Though my plan is to retro it into the Lincoln Futura car. Something like the color in this ebay link.

Oh what a great idea! The car also appeared in a movie in 1959 with Debbie Reynolds and Glen Ford, It started with a kiss.

There is a dedicated website to this Batmobile that give you all sort of pics and details:

I can't imagine how I missed this one.  A beautiful reproduction of a beautiful car.  One of George Barris' best IMHO and stunningly executed.  I'd love to build one myself but neither my eyesight nor manual dexterity would be good enough for those decals!

I doff my hat to you sir. That is a great job with those decals

I also completed one of these just a few months ago.  The kit itself was a bit of a nightmare and I ended up designing and printing a bunch of parts to improve it, and also created a 1/25 scale Bat Signal to sit alongside the completed model .
