I don't think anyone would spot the colour difference in the V's without them being side by side like that. They're both looking good :)

But unless they were sprayed at the same time with the same mix irl then some variation would occur anyway. :)

There is definitely more of an orange hue to the upper one. But I wouldn’t worry about it.

More decaling progress, now up top:

Still many decals to go--almost countless number of decals with the markings, yellow fuselage stripes, and stencils--but they're coming along!

I realized some days ago that for white 21 (Airfix) I needed to "fix" the head rest for the blown canopy. I macgyvered something--not my finest work, but you can see in the foreground of the photo above what I've done. I'm happy that it worked out that these two have different canopies so it gives me a chance to use both!

I also realized that I proceeded with yellow cowling ring for yellow 54 (Revell) even though the photo would suggest the cowling and "54" weren't both yellow.

@Marklo tried to help me with this by suggesting the cowling might be red or the "54" might be white (which is what Techmod used for "Mica"); but anyway, both will be yellow on my version as I'm not going to paint the "54" and the decals are yellow.

It is entirely possible that they are both yellow, but different paint;  black and white photographs are notoriously unreliable for relative light and hue. And if you look at Batyle of Britain 109s in black and white a lot of the yellow looks like the nose ring in your FW.

I am nearly done all the decaling on the yellow 54 (Revell) with still a lot left to apply on white 21 (Airfix). I also need to add another yellow strip to the fuselage for white 21 to make that stripe wider. I enjoy this stage though, so don't mind it taking a long time. And I'm pretty happy with how these butcher birds are looking, somehow very colourful despite the grey camo!

The Revell yellow fuselage stripe decal was meant for further back on the fuselage than I wanted to put it, so that left a fairly large gap underneath to fill with paint. I've built up a few thin coats here such that it's nearly done. Perhaps you can't even tell where the gap was?

Some nice progress since I last looked in here :) You've done a nice job on patching that fuselage band

Thanks, @81-er

The Revell now has her legs, the 500 kg bomb, as well as the various pieces that stick out from the underside all installed. I snapped the port leg connection point, but excessive super glue seems to have done the trick, although I remain nervous about it. Now she'll wait for the Airfix to get a matt clear coat sprayed. I splashed a little panel liner in the wheel well, but haven't done any weathering otherwise.

If it wasn't for superglue for undercarriage repairs I would have to hang about half my models from the ceiling!

A lovely pair and the Hungarian schemes look great.

Thanks, Adrian.

Decals done on Airfix.

I installed her prop/spinner, rudder, and 250 kg bomb, and lay her next to the Revell.

These would probably benefit from a good weathering, but they're going to be clean and colourful instead. Call it lazy, call it the GB timer is counting down, call it whatever you want 😁

Matt coat sprayed on the undersides.

Getting close! One funny thing though is I don't actually have the stand for the Airfix yet, it's in the post and I'm not sure when it will arrive!

Alright, they're all done, except for the stand for Airfix; at the moment she's just resting on the bomb!

This is the Revell. The Revell canopy design is awful, but I made it work(ish).

Here is the Airfix underside. I'll get some more photos of her once I have her on the stand.

An old KP Avia S-199 kit I have came with a stand, and I realized that late last night. It worked perfectly for me to mount the Airfix! RFI pics are in the gallery, and here are the two of them side-by-side.

Thanks everyone for all the encouragement and advice and guidance! Loved this GB!

Lovely work!  I'm really intrigued by the Q-tip technique.  It turned out nice.  I never did a German-made bird before I started using the airbrush.
