I've masked up and thrown some Dark Sea Grey about.

Then after the DSG was lightened with a drop of Sky Grey I carefully did some panels.

Next up some Dark Green.

All masked up.

I didn't use the AK Masking Putty this time as I know it's going to take a while and the putty would spread when left alone.

After a splatter of Colourcoats Dark Green.

This is fresh from the spray booth and as you can see is drying nicely already.

Next episode I'll lighten the Dark Green with some Middle Stone and fade some panels.

Thanks for looking,

The lightened green has been applied and I'm happy with the look even though it doesn't show up on camera too well.

I'll unmask later when the paint is dry and we'll see what needs done.

You've gotten pretty far this week!  It really looks sharp... I'm anxious for you to take the masking off! :D

Thanks very much.

I'm absolutely bricking it.:worry:

It'll all come out in the wash though.

Alistair

With some trepidation I got to unmasking.

I think I got away with it.

The Air Brakes are just a dry fit so I'll pop them out and get on with the masking for the white.

Thanks for looking,

Just from curiosity - I've seen various photos of FR9s that have fairings fitted over the gun troughs to make smooth bulges in the nose area. Does the kit offer those as an option?

A general call-out - does anyone here know what the criteria were for these things being fitted? I understood the role of the FR9 to be armed reconnaissance, which these fairings would contradict.

You have probably been looking at pictures of Meteor FR10  which had the same nose cone as the FR9, but had no guns and the troughs panelled over.

Alistair, this is absolutely stunning - the camo' looks great! Amazing!

Thanks Mark,

There are a couple of bits that I would like to have been shaped better but I'll take it as it is.

Credit where credit's due, my friend - it's a great slice of model making and she's coming together beautifully.

That's looking lovely! Very subtle paintwork and a most attractive scheme,

Thanks Roger,

It's turned out better than I expected with no touch ups.

That's always a bonus. :D

After a lot of masking this morning and about ten minutes careful spraying.

Now I probably did this the wrong way round.

If I did this again I'd paint the white and mash it off before the camo colours, but, hey ho it's done now.

Now I need to measure the kit nose flash decal and then mask off to paint the nose.

I thought of cutting a mask for the whole flash but the gun fairings would make that nigh on impossible to get the mask to settle properly.

Thanks for looking,

Cheers,

Alistair

I got the digital calipers out measured up the decal edge and then with Tamiya Curvy tape got to masking.

Out to the garage for some more Flat White.

As you can see something pretty unusual happened. The Curvy Tape lifted some of the PRU Blue.

Not a major problem but it's very rare with Colourcoats.

I normally wouldn't use straight Flat White for something like this.

I would use an off white mix with a few drops of Buff in it, but as there is a white decal to attach to it I had very little option.

Once that dries sufficiently I'll mask off for the anti-glare panel.

Thanks for looking,

Cheers,

Alistair
