Jagdpanzer 38(t) Hetzer

Recommended Posts

Hello all

After a long time today again a small update from the Hetzer.

As already mentioned, tamiya has mixed a little, so I have redesigned the rear plate (the kit has a late variant).

As always, the pictures are described.

Have fun!

With the help of the SB book, the position of the bolts is determined to match the mid version.
Tamiya has less bolts in the kit, which corresponds to the late version.

Both sides have to be corrected.

Since I wanted to leave out the cover cap, I printed the plate incl. new screws.

The 3 holes are still supplemented with brackets.

I'm leaving the front covers off, so the mounting points need to be replicated.

Some details from the roof.

Caps for the Pilze and latches for the commander's hatch were added.

I have reworked the exhaust a bit to make it more interesting.
The brackets are not correct in the kit or in the PE set. They were made from 0.2mm aluminum foil.

See you!

This is great work.... Building my first Hetzer (recovery variant) and would love to do a "proper" one as well.....

Thanks Rob, I like your build too.

Will also build a Bergehetzer in the future, but the late variant with earth spade (Thunder Model 35101).

Your post will help me with that!

Yep I  tempted by a late version too (and the new Takom ones with full interior)

Hello all

A quick update and the latest status of the construction of the Hetzer.
I have designed more 3D parts and added some details.

The primer is ready 😁

The welded washers for the Schürzen holders are attached.

The kit parts were replaced with aluminum foil.

A mix of old and new wheels make it more interesting.

The holders for the spare track links incl. the wingscrew.

All tool clamps are new just like the antenna base.

The Rundumfeuer MG 34 was a lot of work and consists of 8 individual parts-a small model in the model.

Very nice work in general as usual.

Is that just the printing pedestal the MG mount is standing on?

Pete

Hi Pete

Yes, because the parts are so small and fragile that you need something to handle 🤓

I hope to offer the model this year in my planned online store (as a hobby).

A StuG variant is already in progress.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate it!

@ Stef
I plan to open the store after this summer-just as a hobby, but of course reasonably thought out.
There will also be an option to produce custom parts then.
I'll announce it then on BM 🤓

  • 2 weeks later...

Hello all

The build completed and the workbench cleaned up.
Now begins the most beautiful part from my point of view - the painting 🤗
The Hetzer shows a disk camouflage, applied at the BMM factory.
The 3 basic colors are ready, in the next step I will fill in small gaps with green or brown and make beauty repairs.
Light and shadow I make later with oil paint, the effect can be controlled well.

The painting I find most enjoyable too. What dunkelgelb do you use?
  The disco camo looks terrific.

All the best,

Paul

Postscript:
Today I painted the remaining parts and gave the armor scheme a layer of 90% diluted Buff.
This unifies the colors and indicates fading.
Tomorrow clear coat for protection, then follow oil colors.
