End of War...1/48 Messerschmitt Bf109G-10 (Mtt. Regensburg), 13./JG27

#2/2023

So, this is my dad´s last good old Hasegawa 109, only a few Eduard ones left in the stash.
Markings taken from the Eduard Regensburg kit. Also Eduard seatbelts and cockpit fuel line used. Plastic rods and lead wire for the brake lines, EZ Line for the antenna wires, shortened the legs slightly to have a more realistic look. Painted with MRP RLM74/75/76. Some cracks in the underwing crosses but my dad decided to keep them.

Yes, funny coincidence that Jean posted the same aircraft today 😀

I like the work done by Reini78, the work of Zigomar doesn't transmit anything to me.

Zigomar's looks like a toy.

I was trying to avoid "better" and "worse" since both are way better than anything my "factory" ever produced, but when talking about the differences, there is "build style", "build quality", "paint choices" and "photograpy work (including lighting)".

In case you care, try to load both pics into an image processing software (like IrfanView) and reduce to greyscale (lessening the influence of photography work and getting closer to contemporary photographs). Take a look at the panel "gap" in the cowling (build quality) and a look at the panel lines "all over" (build style), weathering, detail in radiator flaps, judge contrast and taste on JG 27's Reichsverteidigungsrumpfband-green, think about degree of "glossiness" all over (compared to the real thing).

In case the two builders care, I'll explain my feelings / judgement to them via pm, but not in public, since "both are way better than anything my "factory" ever produced" and I'd like to concentrate on the merits (and for legal reasons I will completely ignore a certain detail of the markings).

I still think that Reini78's work is much better.

This is a wonderful representation of the 109 done well as far as the build and finish goes.  I am with Jochen in that it is way better than I have done on my builds.  As for the comparison, both builds depict the same aircraft with a different representation of what the aircraft looked like.  There are differences in the finish, but that seems to be more of the individual's style of finishing the kit.  Or, perhaps, it is a representation of the aircraft at different stages in its life.  I am a fan of a well made and well finished model.  Both of the 109s in this thread are well made and well finished.  My hat is off to both of them as they are "purttier than a new born filly".  Thanks for sharing your build.
