And obviously adding a few extra posts to the thread keeps it at the top of everyone's feed so hopefully those teetering on the edge will dip their toe in and have a go too 😉😀

Good lord you’re not accusing me of gratuitously bumping my threads, errrrrrrr…….

No, no absolutely not Markio (you weren't were you? 🤔) However I am now absolutely bumping this thread coz I think it'd be a great GB 😀

Plenty of designs with no or very little rigging so room for plenty more . . .

Hi Mark, any chance of opening this up to twin seat fighters and scouts as well?

(or indeed, just making it a Great War GB?).

Cheers

That would add the Bristol fighter and the 1 1/2 strutter I can’t think of many other two seats that would be classed as a fighter.

I think I’d rather keep it to single seaters even though I have a ton of two seaters in the stash. That would still allow single seat Avro504’s, BE2s and 1 1/2 strutter comics.

Not my period, and leave it as single seaters if you want to.  However, there are more multi-seat fighters than you suggest.  The most important may be the Caudron R11, but the UK had Pemberton Billings' Zeppelin hunter, and I believe at least some of the Friedrichshafen floatplane fighters were two-seaters.  I'm sure that those more interested in the period will be able to name more.

.. what doesn't kill you makes you stronger or something like that, so why not?....plenty of subjects languishing in the stash

Do you mean the Nighthawk, I built one in 1/48 a while back.

I do have a ffreidrichshafen  in my WIP I never considered it a fighter.

This is an FF33L I don’t think it would hack it as a fighter.  The L had cut down wings and tail compared to the E and now that you mention it some of the intermediate designations could well have been fighter prototypes.

I have over 700 models in my stash - the only WW1 is  the HP O/400.  I don't think I could do it in the timescale.  (Well it's totally definite that I couldn't!)  I was just throwing a few ideas into the mix.

Thanks Mark, that's fine :thumbsup2:

TBH I was thinking more of the Scouts than the Fighters - I've got a Fairey Campania looking for a home, and sadly I've no time to add it to my Felixstowe in the current FAA GB!

Other multi seat fighters would be the Macchi and Lohner flying boat scouts over the Adriatic.

Apologies: I was thinking of the Hansa-Brandenbergs that were sent out in search of the Felixstowe patrol flying boats - hence fighters in my book.  Not the Friedrichshafens.  Well, I did warn that it wasn't my period.

Surprised a Great War themed GB for 2024 isn't getting more traction what with it being 110 years since it broke out?

Anyway, I've got an S.E.5a hanging around begging to be built, add me on please! I've got a feeling Mick Mannock flew one, must see what decals it came with...

He did and he's one of my favourite airmen.  I intend to build the Copper State Nieuport which has his machine as a decal option (kit acquired!).  If you did his SE5a it would be perfect (IIRC he was the first CO of 74 Squardon, which went on to have an illustrious history in the RAF).

Sadly we’ve missed the 2024 boat. I personally think it would make a great GB so I’ll pitch it again for 2025.
