theplasticsurgeon
Rejoining with this Tiger Hobbies Spitfire floatplane. A very unlikely looking development - which did fly. Based upon the same Italeri Kit, from which I built a Spitfire VI. I was unimpressed, let's see if that changes. First the Italeri parts. Then the Tiger Hobby bits. Floats obviously, a new tail, and fillers for the wheel wells, with stubs for the floats. My thanks to Jet Age for this kit, which will be joining one of the collections.
Bertie McBoatface
Another $%^&* Spitfire? Actually it's an interestingly different one so that's all right then.😆 I'll be interested to hear the back-story behind this.
Col.
A different type of Spitfire indeed Tim. Nice second subject choice.
theplasticsurgeon
All the interior cockpit stuff. Now wrapped up into an airframe. Truncated tail, and stubs in the undercarriage bays. One float assembeld. Floats temp clipped on, for the shape of things to come.
Bertie McBoatface
I bet it was a handful in the water with that Merlin growling away.

My research is finding loads of slightly differing configurations. Anyway the underfin has been fitted, and floats. Loads of filler drying right now.

theplasticsurgeon
Airbrushed Humbrol 24 yellow underneath. Not fully dry yet, it's absorbing the sun in a window.

theplasticsurgeon
Airbrushed Humbrol 106 Ocean Grey this morning. Then masked. and airbrushed Humbrol 163 dark green. Finally demasked. Paint has turned out quite soft, so I'm going to rest it there for a few days before decals.

dnl42
Nice work! Even with floats, this plane, and especially its Mk.IX sibling, were attractive and performed well. Particularly compared to the float-equipped Wildcat. lI've seen a 1/48 kit at the LHS; I forget from whom.
theplasticsurgeon
Decals, then matted down. Then prop and exhausts fitted. Just some weathering left now.
theplasticsurgeon
And a few finishing details, brings this build to completion. Which probably ends my time on this GB. Two Fw190s, then a Mirage next week. I've not looked properly at the GB schedule, but if I am able to return later - it will be with a ship.

Bertie McBoatface
Nice work. It's a very striking paint job. I had always believed that this aircraft was tested in Egypt so I assumed it had desert colors. I have amended my imagination accordingly. 🙂
