Mk IV recommendations

Doggy

Recommended Posts

Hi all. I'm looking for some recommendations for the mkiv. It's for my boys birthday and we've previously bought the emhar version which is very poor quality.

I see tamiya and takom make a version. Is there anyone else worth looking at? And if possible he prefers the male variant.

Thanks

Yes, Emhar kits are old and poor.

Track construction might be a deciding factor. Tamiya's kit is motorised - a gimmick - but comes with one-piece clip together links.  Takom offer tracks like this but as an add-on extra.  The standard original separate male and female kits kit come with fiddly multi-part links.  However, their newer male and female 2-in-1 kit comes with the better links as standard.

Other than that I'm not sure there's much to choose between them.

If you want an easy ride, as the others have suggested, go for Takom or Tamiya.  You can make a silk purse out of the Emhar sow's ear, but it's a slog :tired:

Here's one :poop:

That Meng is indeed a nice kit. I've made 3 - Male, Female and Hermaphrodite.

I think however that you'll find it's a Mark V not a Mark IV 🙂.
