VolkerR.
Hi all, I had the same idea as Enzo, but I will build only two: The A-8 yellow 17 will be in 74/75/76, built from the later, "easier", Eduard Weekend kit. I do not have any PE (except for seatbelts) for that, so it will be completely closed. The A-9 red 22 will be in 76/81/82. For this one I have the PE from the kit and Eduard 48556 which contains all necessary parts for an open engine. So this one will have open cockpit, engine and gun bays. Looking forward to start! VolkerR.
So, here we go. I decided to start with the engine for the A-9. There is a lot of PE involved: I use Eduard`s 485556, the PE set for the older version of the 190: And this is where I am now: There is still a lot of PE missing on the BMW engine. Looking forward to some more detailing. Volker
VolkerR.
Engine finished. There are some imperfections, but I struggled hard with the tiny PE parts: Next time I have some black in the airbrush I will add some stains on the exhausts. Apart from that I leave it as it is. Cockpit and fuselage next. Volker

Retired Bob
I have decided with these older Eduard ProfiPack kits to... 1. Open the box, take out the plastic sprues. 2. Throw them into the spares box. 3. Take the contents of a new Eduard FW 190 overtrees boxing and put those sprues into the original box from step 1. 4. Use the p/e, masks and decals to build a nicer, easier to make FW. 5. Slightly wasteful but certainly less stressful.

But I love the challenge and hope to achieve an acceptable result. As I wrote, my second build for this GB will be the easy one.

VolkerR.
Update: Fit is very good if you do not follow the sequence in the instructions. I was a bit worried about the engine supports, but as you can see it sits well. Next some RLM02 for the interior parts and then close the wings. I had thought about painting the interior parts (engine compartment, wheel wells etc.) in aluminium, but there is no evidence for that. So I will follow Eduard`s instructions ans use RLM02. I found this foto of my chosen subject: https://www.asisbiz.com/il2/Fw-190A/JG301/pages/Focke-Wulf-Fw-190A9-6.JG301-(R22+-)-WNr-490044-Landensalza-1945-04.html It seems to me that the wheel well covers are not RLM81 (as given by Eduard), but RLM76. VolkerR.
Test fit of the engine: Perfect! Metal on the underside: And preshading: I took the engine out again, it will be put into place after painting. The ring ( oil cooler ring?) around the prop fan is only glued with white glue, it will have to be removed for the installation of the engine in the end. Up to now everything went well, even the much dreaded engine fit went well. This kit has a bad reputation but it can be built! Volker

I followed the kit instructions and attached the engine to the supports AND THEN tried to fit it all into the fuselage. Well done Volker, getting some paint on now.
Marklo
I know I’m being pedantic but weren’t the ailerons and rudder fabric coveted on the Fw190?

VolkerR.
Some more progress: Masks for the wings, freehand on the fuselage: The engine covers have already been painted, but I forgot to take photos. So that`s where I am now. I will have to think about the right sequence. Probably I will go on with a gloss coat, wash, decals and a matt coat. Thereafter I will do the detailing on the gun bay, the engine compartment and the landing gear.
