Hi James,

I felt if you went any closer with your zoom I would of been chewing on the parts.  Made me feel young again. Took off the glasses and just look at the bits with the naked eyes. Seriously though, very nice work and exceptionally neat and tidy. I like it.

Ray

Thanks Ray and fair point with the zoom. It was a bit much!

And moving swiftly on. The fuselage halves are together and everything is beginning to look a lot more like a 190. The gun covers are an excellent fit. Any thing that doesn’t line up is me fault.

Ive had a bit more time to work on it this afternoon and have the UC bays made up and painted, they’re very nice. So hopefully onto a bit of weathering for them tomorrow.

Thanks for looking.

Hi everyone

Things have moved on nicely since the last update so here’s the state of play.

The wheel wells. This aircraft didn’t have the inner gear doors so Eduard have you remove the ‘bar’ that forms the centre of the structure and replace it with a more circular part which also has the cartridge ejection tubes coming through it. Pretty straight forward.

I also cut of the parts of the canon barrels that protrude out of the front of the wings and drilled them out ready to accept some Albion Alloys tubing when finished. Apologies for the state of that cutting matt.

All parts were painted with Mr Hobby RLM02 given a wash, flat coat and a dry brush before assembly.

And this is where it’s at now. Almost ready for primer.

Hello chaps

Not a huge amount to report this time but it’s ready for a seam check and primer. I’m using the canopy that I won’t put onto the finished build to mask the cockpit during painting and I also fitted the forward most cowl ring which wasn’t a great fit.

Sorry not much much of an update but hopefully the next update will have a coat of primer on.

Thanks for dropping by.

Hi everyone

Just a small update this time. I got the primer on last night, Mr Surfacer 1200. I know it stinks but I love this stuff. There were a couple of quite things to sort out and then this afternoon I put down a coat of Tamiya flat white on the cowlings for the background for the black checks which will come from the decal sheet.

Once the white has dried I’ll mask it up and apply the yellow to the underside cowling and then it’s onto main camo colours.

Thanks for looking

Looking good James, those checks are going to look very eye catching, certainly not your usual fare for Luftwaffe aircraft.

🇺🇦

Thanks Craig. Agreed, not your usual Luftwaffe. On doing a bit of research on Falke Eins website I learned that these markings were applied for recognition purposes for attacking US bombers. Basically making it easier for pilots to reform after a pass through a bomber formation. Other Staffel of JG1 had black and white striped noses. Now there’s another build.

Looking very tidy James, It's going to look impressive with those checks on.

Thanks Bob. It’s coming along well. Hopefully I’ll get most if not all of the camo in over the weekend.

Morning Chaps

Monday morning update. I managed to get all of the paint work completed over the weekend and a gloss coat applied.

First of all was the yellow on the underside of the cowling. Just bog standard Tamiya here.

Once this was dry I did a load of pre shading along the panel lines and squiggles in the centre of the panels and also painted the cowl ring black.

And then on with the RLM 76.

And onto the topside colours and the mottling. All paints are Mr Color by the way.

Everything was sprayed free hand apart form the wavy pattern on the leading edge of the wings for which I cut some Tamiya tape to use as a mask.

I put down a gloss coat last night, Mr Color GX100, and will be onto the decals in the next day or two.

Thanks for dropping by.
