Well, now that the 2023 range is out of the way, it’s time to start thinking about what new kits and rereleases Airfix will have in 2024

My predictions:

1/43 Mustang Shelby GT500

1/43 Ford Lotus Cortina

1/72 Panther PzKfw V

1/72 Panzer IV

1/72 A34 Comet I

1/35 Centurion Mk.VIII (need something to go with the Ferret)

Rereleases with new parts and or decals

1/72 Bristol Beaufort

1/72 HS Nimrod

1/72 Avro Shackleton MR.2

1/48 Avro Anson

1/48 Walrus Mk.I

1/32 Austin Maxi (aka the Landcrab)*

2023 launch Spitfire Mk.Vc boxart is another hint and promise we will finally get early variant of the B-17G kit in 2024. It's coming hot on the heels of the 'Masters of the Air' TV-series that'll be aired beginning later this year. But please don't do another F-model  V-P

The 1/72 Razorback P-47D is a perennial prediction. Maybe when the cockroaches have finally taken over the planet ...

At this stage, I'd be happy with (almost) anything new in 1/72, whether or not it benefits from the bank of R&D work Airfix has done for the benefit of all our 1/48 scale brethren. Spitfire XIV? Walrus? Sea Vixen? Javelin? Hunter? Anson? Vampire FB?

However the Spitfire is escorting the Memphis Belle so if the box art future release hints continue, it will probably be an F.
How much of the current B-17G can be reused to make an earlier one?

How much of the current B-17G can be reused to make an earlier ‘G’ or an F for that matter

Sounds like you guys just need to get organised. Find a volunteer to start an involved Lincoln build from two Airfix lancs and a Shackleton, somebody else to start battling a Valom Hampden into submission, another to get to work on superdetailing a Gavia Lysander, inveigle Dave Cov into scratch building a 1/350 1970s Ark Royal, and and I'll drop £150 on a 1/32 280SL off eBay. Bob's your Uncle... the 2024 Airfix release programme will be sorted...

best,

M.

Sigh.... A Fairey Battle.

If I keep saying it, one day it will happen.

Of course it will...  just as soon as I buy a Rotodyne and attempt to build it....  that'll be a battle alright 🤣

Yep even Airfix’s one will rust.

or maybe the bag will just contain powdered plastic and an air of regret!

It would have to include a sachet of Lucas smoke as well ...

Closer to the truth than you think.

The Airfix Morris Marina moulds were left out in the rain and were damaged beyond repair so you will never see one of these again from Airfix:

BTW, this was the most expensive kit that I have ever bought at just over £140 almost three years ago.

Someone, somewhere recently touted the re-issue of the Marina - I couldn't bring myself to tell them of the Trun treatment of the moulds.

Edit - oh yes it was this one.

Surely there must be a plugin for the forum that would just write this thread automatically for us?

Quick, someone write a ChatGPT module for Britmodeller!

That would NEVER have happened to the DS moulds.
