Marklo Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 (edited) My second entry, probably out of the box because I love the torpedo option and also owing to the fact that only about 500 Dora’s were built there probably aren’t that many alternatives. Edited April 4, 2023 by Marklo 4
Marklo Posted January 9, 2023 Author Posted January 9, 2023 (edited) Found this on the web it’s a D13 and I really like the colour scheme, It looks like 76 with late war greens over 02 on the wings, nicely unusual, so I think I’ll go with it. Edited January 9, 2023 by Marklo 8
IanC Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 A striking scheme indeed. I think Airfix's 1976 new tool Fw 190D came with these markings, or something very similar. 1
Corsairfoxfouruncle Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 Its one Ive always wanted to do as I also like the torpedo carrier look. 1
Marklo Posted February 11, 2023 Author Posted February 11, 2023 managed to get a bit done in this one too. 3
franky boy Posted February 24, 2023 Posted February 24, 2023 Nice work Mark. Shaping up very nicely. Will look forward to seeing it under a coat of primer. James 1
Marklo Posted February 24, 2023 Author Posted February 24, 2023 Primed. Needs a little remedial work so I’ll hold off on the preshade. 2
Marklo Posted February 26, 2023 Author Posted February 26, 2023 A bit of ppp on the few small gaps left. 5
Marklo Posted February 28, 2023 Author Posted February 28, 2023 If you like the FW quartet, you’d have lived my Me109 build on 2021 now that was an air wing. 1
franky boy Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 Nice work Mark. Is that Hataka orange line or one of the other flavours? James

Not sure the colour but it’s the set pre mixed for airbrushing, but I still mix it down a bit. All things being equal I’ll be starting the upper surface’s tomorrow so I’ll check it then. 1
Marklo Posted March 10, 2023 Author Posted March 10, 2023 Ok I have to say it. I’m still going with the museum scheme but I can’t let that torpedo end up in the spares box….
Marklo Posted March 11, 2023 Author Posted March 11, 2023 Next order of business. Using the images of Gelb ten transfer the camo to my plan on the right. Now to find my coloured pencils, I wonder if I have don’t crayons
Marklo Posted March 11, 2023 Author Posted March 11, 2023 The two tail bands were hand painted then the grauviolet followed by some freehand light green. The rest of the camo is dark green splidgrs/stripes mostly over the grey. Very pleased with how this is shaping up. 2
Marklo Posted March 13, 2023 Author Posted March 13, 2023 While examining the photos for the camo I noticed that the underside leading edges should be bare metal. So I’ve foiled it. I may give it a rib with pigment or graphite to fill it down a bit. 1
Marklo Posted March 16, 2023 Author Posted March 16, 2023 (edited) 83 on. I have to admit it’s a weird colour scheme, my guess is that they were running out of paint and the patchy application of the two greens was to eek out the last few drops… Edited March 16, 2023 by Marklo 4
Marklo Posted March 18, 2023 Author Posted March 18, 2023 Disaster the canopy snapped on unmasking But thankfully I had one in the spares box, so only a minor setback. Otherwise I would have ended up having to mold a replacement… Some more decalling and the oleos fitted. Just the yellow ten left to add. 3
