My second entry, probably out of the box because I love the torpedo option and also owing to the fact that only about 500 Dora’s were built there probably aren’t that many alternatives.

Found this on the web it’s a D13 and I really like the colour scheme,   It looks like 76 with late war greens over 02 on the wings, nicely unusual, so I think I’ll go with it.

A striking scheme indeed. I think Airfix's 1976 new tool Fw 190D came with these markings, or something very similar.

Nice work Mark.

Shaping up very nicely. Will look forward to seeing it under a coat of primer.

Nice work Mark. Is that Hataka orange line or one of the other flavours?

Not sure the colour but it’s the set pre mixed for airbrushing, but I still mix it down a bit. All things being equal I’ll be starting the upper surface’s tomorrow so I’ll check it then.

Ok I have to say it. I’m still going with the museum scheme but I can’t let that torpedo end up in the spares box….

0-C53-ECAC-3-FBF-4-DDD-AAEF-1-A98-F103-AWhile examining the photos for the camo I noticed that the underside leading edges should be bare metal. So I’ve foiled it. I may give it a rib with pigment or graphite to fill it down a bit.

83 on. I have to admit it’s a weird colour scheme, my guess is that they were running out of paint and the patchy application of the two greens was to eek out the last few drops…

626-A55-E5-EF2-B-455-A-8796-6-B30092-DF8Disaster the canopy snapped on unmasking :(

2731-B14-C-AA2-D-46-D7-94-EC-7413-D45-BBBut thankfully I had one in the spares box, so only a minor setback. Otherwise I would have ended up having to mold a replacement…

You can thank Tamiya for that, the A3 kit that i converted to V1 had both styles of rear canopy.
